hey dude, 4 grand should defintitly give you PLENTY of swwet **** on your cobalt. Some suggestions....For performance: Intense stage 5, new clutch, injen intake, downpipe w/ cat delete, borla muffler, ingalls engine dampener, hurst short throw shifter.
For looks/performance: 3 pod a-pillar with your factory boost, fuel pressure, and Hp tuners tune pod with 60-ft times rpms tran temp 1/4 time supercharger rpm etc., and maybe a carbon fiber hood(all depends on taste and car color). ALL of this is still under 4000. and youll be in the high 12s to low 13s depending on how you drive!!! : )

For performance and nothing that detracts from the look of the cart you should go with

Stage 2 installed, 2.8" pulley ~1000
CAI ~ 200
3" exhaust ~1000
springs (sportlines) ~400
cab's ~400
transmission torque dampers ~250
spend the remaining ~750 at a race driving school (priceless experience)

**** i hate these threads if i had 4000 there are better thinsg to do wiht it, like pay **** off, but i on the other woudl spend it on my car, but under my own needs, not under someone elses, id get a intense stage 5, but id get hp tuners, so you figure some other tuning parameters on your own, otherwise, you spent this and this and all you ahve is a bunch parts not somehtign custom, so yah

Haha dude it never ends you'll spend $4000 and still want to spend more. You'll upgrade something and then realize you have to upgrade something else to support it. I think if you plan to mod heavey then do the inportant things first like clutch/flywheel, axels, top end, pistons. Then later wehn you want to spend more you can boost crazy amounts. If you want to go light then just do what SoloSK71told ya. If your more visual, well someone else will have to help you because i am all about performance lol

If the car isn't paid off...I would send 2000 to 1500 towards the car payment. Then with the rest I would depending if ou care about warrenty or not. Get Intense stage V or custom twincharge. Along with stage 5 or twincharge go with a new exhaust. And if money left over header and downpipe also.

your gonna bust an axle if you have no way to stop wheel hop. and the most effective way to stop wheel hop and maximize your contact patch thus giving you the best traction would be a set of the traction bars that just came out for the cobalt/redline.

I don't believe a 3inch exhaust is a must. Is a new axle a must?

Nitrous ($1000+)
Carbon Fiber Hood and Deck Lid (~$1500)
Wheels and Tires ($1400+)

If you have anything left over, I would say it for nitrous fill ups
