0-60???

Ok guys, i currently own a 98 auto ls1 camaro, and im getting tired of them problems im having, and was thinking of a cobalt ss sc, Now i test drove one before, and it actually felt fast to me, but i think it mightve been stage 2. But i see all these videos of cobalts ss sc and they seem like it takes 7 seconds to get to 60. Like this :

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EVK6c...eature=related

DO they really take a whole 7 seconds to get to sixty? Cuz i see them next to 350z and mustangs all the time, but both other cars have quicker bottom end. Do the cobalts just have really good top end to make up for the sluggish bottom end? It seems like the beginning of 2nd is what kills it.

usually around 6 seconds, not much more,
all depends on the driver

yeah that video, was weird i don't think the person knew how to drive. A good modified ss/sc will be clsoe to 5 seconds.

I do agree that the lsj doesn't have much of a bottom end but just like your ls1 the lsj has really good top end,me being stock i stay right next to my buddy who has a 98 ls1 auto with a shift kit from 0 to like 50 and then he starts to pull. Stage 2 and full exhaust will beat a ls1 and ls2's!

what problems are you having? I wouldn't trade my 01 ss in again if I had a choice. I miss it. The car was decently fast all the time. When it gets hot around here my ss/sc feels like its pulling an anchor. I thought the car was close to beign as fast as my ls1 till i realized first gear was stupid. It makes the car feel faster than it is. I'd sit on the decision for a little bit

my 01 ls1 was so reliable though. 100k lid and catback ran 13.5s at 108 and never left me stranded.

ss/sc falls flat with not topend power. it only traps 98 in the q/m which shows that it has no topend.

I would never sell an F Body with an LS1 For a Cobalt SS/SC, Especially when you are talking about performance. But opinions are like ******** everyone has one. The only valid reason i would understand is that gas prices are just too high and you drive too much a day, So you need a 4 cylinder.

I agree. My friend had a Stage 2 cobalt with full exhaust and custom tune and was running low to mid 14's

hell with a 2.7 full exhaust intake and drs i hit 111 in the quarter. thats some decent top end. tell me cobalts have no top end. that was with a good bit of spinning.

Thats not bad. But then again you are not stage 2. You are pretty much as modded as it gets without meth on the stock blower. I mean you could go to a 2.6 but hell i have seen 4 cobalts blow up and every one has had a 2.6 much less all the stories i hear as well.

No I wouldn't lol. My bestfriend/neighbor has a LS2 goat that rapes me hard. And I have run a LS1, pulled him by a fender, a very small fender. A S2 and full exhaust balt is not beating a LS1 let alone a LS2.

i have video's of when i was stock vs. car's that have lower 0-60 time and stuff. out of my friends though most them think i am the best driver and can nail whatever the 0-60 time is on the car or what it should be after driving it a couple times. it's really all driver. i've met people with cobalt's who suck at driving them or leave them in the wrong gear at a roll and make cobalts look bad

here are some more i'll add so you don't have to look through the pages.

from a stop vs. the 96 trans am

Last time i checked a 96 Trans Am has an LT-1. Might as well be racing Mustang GT's.

Secondly how has any ones opinions changed because you posted some videos that has nothing to do with the topic??

There is a big difference between LT-1 and LS1

If the switch from an LS1 to an LSJ is to have a care-free car, then sure, I'd think its worth it. One of the few reasons that made me swap. But I'll have another Camaro sometime in my life. Hopefully in less than 8 years.

I don't think you are getting the point. Mustang GT's and LT-1 Camaro's are Dogs. They are extremely slow compared to an Ls1 Fbody or Ls1/2 GTO
