06 SS/SC Dyno numbers

I went to the shop to get the pulls for stock and after the CAI (Injen) was installed. I got the initial pulls in and the shop was about 4 F so I decided to go to a warmer shop and install the CAI then do another set of pulls tomorrow.
Well, I am happy. I got 216.5 on the first pull and 215.9 on the second. Both were 4th gear pulls.
On another note, he did an 05 a few days ago and he got 197.4 as a best pull.

ok, 2 more pics. The first is HP/Torque and the second is HP/AF ratio. We noticed that it got rich around 2700 and then leveled out and never dropped below 10.

Nice high numbers. After you get your Injen CAI dynoed, please post the gains asap. I really want to see how well it performs. I've been hearing 17hp peak and 12-13 average where as K&N is only 8hp.

I will. I will be there at 9am tomorrow morning. I'll post the numbers as soon as I get back.
Driving home with it on I could hear the whine of the charger... I had a huge grin, too bad traffic was bad or I would have had a little fun.

OMG I can't wait to get an intake. I drove my friends ss/sc with the K&N and it put a smile on my face too. It is freaking loud as hell. It even put a smile on one of my friends that has an srt4

I am doubling posts between here and the thread about the Injen install....oh well..

here is todays dyno run. as I stated in the other thread the boost went up as did the HP. Not 8 like Injen states, but heck, we need something to capitalize on the extra air.

I have to admit that I'm disappointed by the small gain. That is a lot of money for the small increase in power. Maybe the stage upgrades will allow it to use the extra air better. I'm thinking about cancelling my order on the Injen

I'm not, honestly.
There is a limitation right now with how much air our cars can handle. We need those stage kits to come out and access to the PCM. Those will make the numbers better, a lot better.
Right now we have no way of controlling our Air/Fuel ratio and thats what hurts us.

One other note, I never disconnected my battery cable. Not sure if it would hurt or help.

I wonder if just adding the AEM dry flow to the stock intake would be better, their dyno shows and increase of 8 hp and it only runs about 40 dollars.

$40 isn't such a big deal, I'd try it.

The chart shifted up from 3500rpms and up so thats pretty decent even if the max HP didn't go up much.

Why guys are you surprised ? I already said (having testing a CAI on the 05 SS by myself) that the stock 3" air tube and Donaldson airbox isn't too much restrictive, the most restrictive part is the filter itself.

In fact, it seems that is so true on the 06 SS, the stock filter isn't the same part number, my guess is that the stock air filter element is good enough, those 06 seems leaner on the dyno.

dude its not all about restriction. its about harmonics and wave variation. look at the aem v2. that intake is a short ram but it is also designed to create a wave pattern of a cold air, so it gets similar gains.

CAI's are good for 3 reasons, one is in most cases they free up some flow, two is they draw in cold air. no ur intakes do this for the most part stock, but three is the give a better wave of air.

example: take a bottle of water and dump it straight out, watch it chug and take for ever to empty. now fill it back up and make a spinning motion is u dump it, watch it create a tornado and flow out very smooth and fast. this theory is the general physics behind a port and polish. but it also explains a little how tube size, size fluctuation, and length on a cai increase power.

you should go with a high-flow cat. See what that does for ur car.

how much cold air do you want the filter is already in the wheel well just to let you know those super sweet airfilters that you put oil on so they filter are junk they allow 60% more dirt pass through the filter and into your engine then a paper element will so knowing that you should just take your filters off they arent doing much good anyways

WOW, only 8hp from adding an intake and exhaust? Is it just me or does that seem TERRIBLE?

Nice Gains!!!

With my K&N Intake and Magnaflow Exhaust I gained 17.9 hp and 20.9 ft/lb tq. Your stock baseline is close to mine I put down 214.3hp and 188.2 ft/lb tq. Overall I have: 232.2hp and 208.29 ft/lb tq...

every dyno is differnet they all are close. there is so many different types of dynos they all aren't going to give the same numbers. not to mention air temps air pressures elevation all play huge factors. thats why in drag racing there is so many time differences at differnet tracks.

just got back after a few pulls on the dyno. I installed the GMPP extruded/honed exhaust manifold. I got 228.4hp and 201tq. Just in line with what I thought. I gained 4hp and 6tq.
