If these cars were meant for a sustained speed over 100mph, wouldn't there be another overdrive gear? At 120mph it's turning over 4k rpm, which is pretty high IMO.

120 mph. That will get you 15 years in prison if you hit a van full of seniors and kill 5 of them.

Have fun with that. $270 for the rear hub plus another $130 for labor. I went to the dealership and had them do it to stay within my warranty.

I would guess either wheel bearing, the wheel is out of balance or the wheel is bent.

jesus christ he didnt ask for everyones thoughts on going over 120 he asked what we thought the problem could be.

i agree with mjmur guessing either a wheel bearing, wheel is out of balance, or bent as you mentioned you did hit something with it. let us know what you find

Just beacuse the cars is built for those speeds dont mean somthing on the car cant break from that. Age of the parts come into play and how often you do it and how the car was broken in counts in that. most cars can go above 120 but things start breaking if u do it all the time.

Well, when I went up there to have it checked, they told me the wheel bearing couldn't be changed out alone. They would have to order a whole new wheel hub. Perhaps I'm getting things mixed. And like I said, I'd like to keep my warranty. I could change it myself if I had the time, but working 30 hours a week and going to school part time doesn't leave a whole lot of room for that.

@ OP: Hope you figure out what your problem is and have it solved. Side note: As others have said, be smart. Take it to the track if you're going to speed.
