Thats a good way of lookint at it an0malous, thats kind of the path I am taking. If I were to go straight to aftermarket crazy power, I think i would end up hurting myself...

these cars are not easy to launch. I would go with a middle of the road setup, something around a 2.9ish pully (stage 2 possibly) get some slicks/DR's and some solid mounts.

Go to the track and get yourself into the 13's with consistancy.
get used to how picky this car can be at the track.

THEN pour the money at the engine.

just my 0.02c

I agree!

so far im thinking stage 2....
Don't Bother with th GM Stage 2 if your looking for 12's your gonna need something with 60lb injectors My Stage 2 + K&N Typhoon intake just dynoed at 238whp and thats max on gm's stage kit. I'm reaching for low 12's eventually but not in a hurry to get there!

I was thinking...

"Rob's Cobalt has the INTENSE stage3 kit, Corsa Touring cat back exhaust system, and the INTENSE oversize tensioner pulley He dyno'd 270WHP and 236WTQ with just the stg3 kit and recently dyno'd 276 WHP and 258WTQ with the corsa and a 2.6" pulley. Rob recently accomplished his goal of being the first street Cobalt into the 12s with his best ET on 4/5/06 a 12.940@106 w/ 1.82 60' and he plans on improving that dramatically this year. "
from intense.

The Stg 3 is 529.99, and I'm sure with the left over $3400 you could find exhaust and a tensioner plus some extras.

I would get a custom tune if you are going the Intense route. I've seen a lot of broken cars lately on here with Intense tunes and no monitoring devices.

TOTAL $4077

This is pretty much the cheapest way I can figure out how to get you in the high 12's. This however does not include a set of drag radials you will need. You can do the airbox mod instead of getting an intake as well for another $40.

thats what i tried telling him last night , thanks for pretty much saying the same thing makes me look better

No problem. I think I just posted my list, then went back and read the suggstions. I would swap out some better parts like the header if had more money, but I tried to keep it in his budget.

keep in mind, the mounts may cause too much vibs and may set off yer knock sensors, this happened to me, so the mount is off and a brace is being developed by tag that is adjustable and will not bend, ive got 60's and a 2.7, a insane tune from tag and a onslaught of bolt ons, gonan do the dual pass plate , axles and dr's and ill see what the car does
