It wouldn't be worth it. You would need a lot to get it to drive, you can't just use your stock engine managment system, so you would have to buy a stand-alone. Then you would need to upgrade tranny, clutch, and pay someone to do it (i'm guessing you're not planning on doing this yourself).
Then you're left with an SS powered car, with no GFX, and rear drums, and a crappy suspension, and no warranty for more than what an SS would have cost you in the 1st place.

Sounds good to me.

lol good luck trying to get that 572 into a cobalt. it would never work. that engine is way too heavy to get into a car like that. there would be too much weight at the front of the car. i would def be more then happy with that supercharged V6 that makes 260hp.

Turbo'd

Naw, SC isn't the way to go, Chevy should be usin' a turbo. Turbos have a lot more potential than superchargers. Besides, nothing more fun than perfecting the factory turbo on a car.

As for engine swaps, don't bother, but if you do consider this engine:

A custom built 350 is great for cars like this cause usually they are smaller, lighter and less powerful than big blocks. A 350 might be perfect for a Drag Cobalt. But engine swaps should be avoided, unless you are building a hotrod. Don't do it because you want more horses, there are a million cheaper and easier ways to do that.

Like a TURBOCHARGED 2.0L ECOtec, instead of an S/C system.

Just my two cents...

Can't drop a 350 into anything made after 2001 I don't think... Emissions problems with the engine. It's why they discontinued the 4.3L V6 engine. (Same block minus two cylinders)

I think somebody told Mr. Zin how GM got their 272 up there.

Supercharged Inline with Stage 1 and better intakes and exhaust.

Yep the 3800 V6 is an old tired platform thats being replaced by the 3.6 VVT V6.

I can't imagine wanting to put that engine in anything new.

I would like some variant of the GM 4.2 I6 in a RWD chevy coupe. Maybe it's too much of a truck engine to even consider trying to modify one for use in a car.

Really? shoot, emissions takes the fun out of everything. Well, could it still be a track car with a 350? I mean, if I was swapping out for a 350 I am not considering the car as a daily driver.

As for the V6, they use that same engine in the Astros, and it seems to hold up forever, or at leaat a long time. My dad is a big lover of the chevy astro van, mainly because the engine holds up for 250+ thousand miles. Its sad that they discontinued it. Thanks for the info.

Engine Swaps Heh...

I normally don't venture into the techy section of the forum, but the general talk of swapping other motors into the cobalt is distasteful. I surely hope that noone is buying this car just for it's looks (thats what most women and homosexual men do.) . The 2.0 is a great engine with alot of potential and clearly a suitable tuning platform to get impressive performance. We finally have strong engine we can use to compete in the sport compact market, lets build on it, not rip it out. Thats just my .02

i agree with wat mt3 said, execpt the part where most homosexual men just judge a car by its looks. im bi, and when i see a car i dont just go by its looks. to me performance means more. i mean the car has to have some good looks to it. i mean the new GTO and pontiac G6 may be alittle bland STOCK, but with some aftermarket hoods and all, they would look awsome. but i do think that the new 2.0 supercharged ecotec should be modified, not ripped out. its a sweet engine.
