2.5 zzp downpipe

I will be ordering this part tomorrow for my Cobalt, and it is the catted version of it.

I have read some people have ran into some problems with CELs when they install these. Is that just the catless ones?

I really do not want a CEL, I don't see why i should throw one with a catted downpipe correct?

On a semi related note, I was going to take my old cat to the junk yard, my friend junks cars and he gets anywhere from 50-100 dollars for catalytic converters, are the cobalt ones pretty valuable?

Lastly, get different gaskets than the zzp ones is the trend I am seeing. Is that good info to follow?

yes you probably will throw a code, its no big deal though. i dunno about the value of the cat but as for the gaskets i recommend either remflex or stock/oem.

Damn, I don't want a CEL. They annoy me and they kill the value of the car.

I just have the drop in KN filter in my car, otherwise it's stock.

do you plan on selling the car when you do the downpipe? It won't do anything to the value - you modding it brings the value down alone lol. Just get the parts on and then get a tune

No, I plan on trading it in or something in a few years when I am done with college. I don't want a CEL because I think it just looks terrible. Is there any downpipe that wont throw a CEL

Why are you getting upset? you can get a spacer for the O2 sensor to take it out of the exhaust stream to try and trick it even further. If it doesn't work, just get a "canned tune" from ZZP, they can turn the code off and dial in your tune for a bit more power

I emailed ZZP and asked them, I was told they don't throw a CEL.

The reason why I would be upset is because I need a new downpipe, and I do not want to replace it with a stock one. Im guessing if zzp told me it would be fine, it should be.

I got tuned for my DP, though catless and after about a year and a half the CEL came back. It is annoying but nothing more. Comes on after about 60 miles and then goes off for about the same. If it stays on I check to be sure its the stupid code and then delete it. Comes back though. It has got me wanting to go back to the extruded GM Manifold and dp.

If a CEL really bothers you invest in an interceptor gauge and you can shut it off when it comes on. It's a great thing to have regardless.
