2.6 pulley on a TVS?

My clutch is in and im getting ready for the next step. Im currently on a 2.9 pulley on my TVS and running 93 with Lucas Octane Boost. Ive got a 2.6 pulley and im looking to add water/meth, pulley down and run it. my question is fairly basic. is this workable on a stock head/valvetrain? Before i go and spend a grand on a water/meth system im looking for peoples input as to the plan.
im also looking for input on the best water/meth and their advice on the best water/meth installer/tuner in the northeast. atm my plan is a Snow Performance system and to have it installed/tuned by Fred at SMG. im running a gm performance exhaust behind a catless zzp long tube header/dp combo and concerned that its not enough exhaust and that my head wont flow enough to take advantage of a smaller pulley and meth. your thoughts?

&& stock head doesn't flow enough as is. A ported head will help you quite a bit

Did you say you were going to spend a grand on a meth kit???

They are easy to install a couple wires and the meth lines.

I think Tyler Lance (tylerjclance) is running either a 2.6 or 2.7 on his tvs.

im looking at the stage 3 snow kit with the safejection addon and bigger tank. gonna be around 1,000. just curious about peoples experience with the various systems. Ive been told that AIS makes a great system but also that their tank doesnt fit in our trunk well. i know devils own is fairly inexpensive but ive also heard of it failing on people. just looking for feedback.

Wow that's really crazy expensive!! All they are is a tank, pump, lines, wires, and the fitting.

If you are doing all these mods I assume you already have an interceptor gauge correct? If you do just set it up to turn on the red lights at like 2 or 3 counts of knock. That way if your kit fails and you go lean you will see it really quick.

The AEM kit comes with an LED light that will let you know if something is wrong.. For example, it'll blink once if I has empty/no fluid.. Blink twice if there's an open somewhere in the wires.. It'll stay on if you're spraying meth. I think te AEM kit is a really nice kit. But I have never really seem or heard much of any others.

i have the AEM 1 gallon kit on my TVS with the stock pulley (3.1 inch) and it rocks. like tstone said, the LED that comes with it is a very reassuring feature letting you know if there is a fault in the system and what kind of fault it is with how many times the LED is flashing.

All you have to do with a AIS kit is hook up a couple of wires and mount your nozzles.

Heres mine in the spare tire area.

im very much like to keep my spare tire. we spoke before about the AIS system and i know its been good to you. can you recommend anyone in new england who installs and tunes the AIS system? There are two places i know of off hand that do the Snow system. Did any of the AEM guys have it installed/tuned in the new england area? or devils own? anybody? i know i can bolt in the tank and run some wires. i want it done by someone whos installed the system im buying on a cobalt before and tuned it.

Honesty, save yourself some $$ & install it yourself. I'm terrible with wiring and all that and I hooked it up no problem. It's a lot easier then you'd think. Also, it comes with very good instructions. As far as tuning, you may wanna look into having someone remote tune you, like zzp or James/chevycobaltss3.. I don't know of anyone in the new England area but that doesn't mean there isn't anyone there. Also for tuning, it won't be any difference in tuning for a different system.

hes a Snow vendor and thats why im leaning towards buying it through him and having him tune it. hey euthanasia, will i be able to run 25 degrees of timing on the 2.6 pulley with meth? or will i be limited at like 21? whats more power, 2.6 at 21 or 2.9 at 25?

25* and meth on pump is not a problem. Just dont be scared to run big nozzles. I did it with a dual nozzle setup running a 10 and 7 gph nozzle. And my iats were a tad under 130* at the end of many 4th gear pulls on the dyno. On our lower then normal reading dyno we go to it made 334whp. Oh and thats on **** 91 octane.

so dual big nozzles, 93 + lucas and i should be able to run a 2.6 at 25 degrees? i would be wicked happy to see over 300. you had ported your head through right? ill set my sights at 315 and hope for the best.

gotta step up to the zzp 3" exhaust soon too. then get my spare head ported by you

Might not NEED dual nozzles.. start with a 14gph nozzle and see how it works for you.. every car is different.. also, find yourself a good tuner. It's hard to say what kind of timing you can and can't run, because it's a completely different car. But you'll definitely break 300. With a good tuner, you should be able to break 330.. In the end, the tune is what is gonna hold you back
