2.9 pulley on 07 ss/sc
I was wondering if putting a 2.9 pulley on a 07 ss/sc with an intake really worth it. I probably wont be doing much more for a while until i save up for an exhaust
shortened belt, 42's, and i would suggest the stage two tune, or a custom one would be better, but if someone has exp on running a 2.9 with the base map i would be interested in hearing how it worked
I would say stick with the 2.9 and 42's. 42's already are maxed out at higher rpms with the 2.9 pulley. You need 60's for a 2.8. This comment will probably start an argument. Should be funny.
well you could run a 2.8 with 42lbs. but you also would have to run meth also so that the injectors aren't maxed out. but if you have the money you can get 2.8 and meth and 60lb injectors.
see people like this are why this forum is sucky, i have hp tuner logs showing that the stage 2 42's will be at 101% idc, with a 2.9, at 7,000 rpms, meaning those injectors are maxed out on a 2.9. On a 2.8 the 42's will go static, im just really tired of arguing with people that dont know what there talking about
Okay... *looks at my car*... I ran a 2.8 on 42s for 7 months... Hard... No problems... nothing went static.. MY logs showed idcs in the high 90s low 100's... But if you knew what was really important, youd know that you should be more worried with pulse width... My pw's were in line with not being catastrophic...
Did you look at the 2.8 on the gm tune? Or a custom tune?
I was custom tuned... Okay.. i was running a little lean.. But as long as you take care of the car, and not drive it like an idiot...
There have been people who ran a 2.8 on 42s for years...

your totally right dude, you mod your way ill mod my way, but for anyone that wants to mod safely with no problems stay on 2.9 with the 42's you will have no issues beat on it as much as you want, its not worth the risk for the little gain
BATTLE ROYAL...
every car is diffrent, some ppl have run 2.8s on 42s and have had no problems, while others have had problems. me personally id rather be safe and am running a 2.9 0n 42s and would not go any lower. but thats just me. as for the post if he is stock he cannot just throw a 2.9 on, he would need injectors (either 42s or 60s) shortened belt (and or tensioner) and a tune.

but if you have meth than you idc wont be so high. so you can run a 2.8 on 42 all day long.
and get a custom tune. not a gmstage 2 tune.

...Thank you for not fighting over it... sometimes people dont like opinions enough to even bother with them.
And a belt tensioner or stage 2 belt and than you would be ok. But if you plan on sticking with the 2.9 than you mind as well get 42's but if you want to go any lower in the future like to a 2.8 or lower than it would be smart to get 60's. It would also be smart to get cooling mods on anything below 2.9. But yea. You could do 2.9 on 60's. Just need a custom tune.

Dont waste your time on 42s, get 60s, buy injectors once and then later down the road if you want to do a 2.8 or 2.7 youll be all set already. and deff get a custom tune and maybe dual pass or H/E. The last two arent needed, but good insurance
