3" or 2.5" exhaust?

I'm getting exhaust soon and i'm having trouble deciding. I've been planning on getting the hahn 3" full exhaust but do you think it will be a noticable loss in torque? should i just get with 2.5"?

I dont think you will notice a huge difference in tq loss if you go with the hahn.

get your factory exhaust measured. the factory one on my comp pack redline is 2.75 inches all the way back to the stock resonator inlet and it was 2.25 after. i got a 2.5 inch to the resonator outlet and a mangaflow exhaust with a 3inch tip. you need to keep the flow matched.. thats how u make power..

The size exhaust you choose is dependant upon your modification level. 3in exhaust is not necessary unless you are running 300hp or above. If you put a 3in exhaust on a stock ss/sc you will lose an incredible amount of backpressure/ torque. Unless you are heavily modded, you really should go with the 2.5 in exhaust.

even if you go over 300 whpthe 2.5 full exhaust would be sufficient, its the 350ish mark were it would become obsolite.

According to 1320drag.net, Hahn, AMS and a one other I can't remember

"As for 2.5" vs. 3.0", the "best" turboback exhaust depends on the amount of flow, or horsepower. At 250 hp, 2.5" is fine. Going to 3" at this power level won't get you much, if anything, other than a louder exhaust note. 300 hp and you're definitely suboptimal with 2.5". For 400-450 hp, even 3" is on the small side."

While this applies better to a turbo car, i think it can be adopted for a S/C one............or a soon to be T/C or whippled car

ONLY get 3 in exhaust if you plan on making more than about 250 ++ whp, if you get it with like stage 2 and an intake its gonna hurt more than it will help. I would only run 3 in exhaust with a 2.8 and less w supporting mods of course (60lb injectors tune)

2.75 would be a happy medium for sure, dezod has the 2.75 cat back, then youd just need the res customed.

I noticed a loss in low end torque with my aam" 3inch, and catless CA 3inch d/p, so i went with a 2.5" with 2.5" CA d/p, iam moded on the heavy side.
