3" exhaust

Hey everyone, I was wondering what some good full 3" exhaust combos would be(downpipe and exhaust), as I do plan to break 300 hp with the TVS I am getting. The only current downpipes I know of are CTI and Hahn, and the only 3 inch exhausts I know are Hahn and CTI. Do companies like magnaflow, ark, or megan make 3" exhausts for our car?(lsj) Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Check out Mandrelbendexhausts.com or something like that. They make good systems.

OTTP sells a 3" exhaust with magnaflow res and muffler. I would go that route just because i like magnaflow. The downpipe would fit it as long as its the same size as your stock dp. If i was you i would look into a longtube header/dp combo. Longer headers seem to do better then shorties.

Do you mean mandrelexhaustsystems.com ?

They seem to be a good company (TruBendz), I'm considering order a 3" catback from them realllllll soon...

Not to threadjack entirely, since the topic of the thread is 3" exhausts... What is recommended on the 2.5" to 3" exhaust switchover? I run a 2.7" with full bolt-ons and supporting mods. Most people seems to think that is on the fence, and think a 3" exhaust should be fine. I'd like to get a 3" system if I can justify it. I don't want to buy a 2.5" system and regret it later, likewise, I don't want to buy a 3" system and have it hurt my performance. I already have a Clear Image header and 3" downpipe, so the 3" catback would drop right in. Thoughts would be appreciated!

Well... I sprung for the 3" system from Mandrel Exhaust Systems (TruBendz) with a Magnaflow oval muffler and the 18" resonator. Hopefully the thing isn't too damn loud and it doesn't kill my low end torque. At least maybe I'll get some gains up top...

To add a little input to your question on is 3" overkill for your setup, I just put my Hahn 3" on last night upgrading from my 2.5" i had and my torque didnt seem to suffer. I am on my 2.8 pulley right now for winter so I havent ran it with the 2.7 yet, but obviously there will be even more torque with the 2.7. But I am on meth as well so I may have a bit more torque than you in the first place, but the the top end seemed to open up greatly with the 3". I have only made a few pulls but I am very satisfied with going 3", and with you having a simlair setup to mine I think you will like it as well.

Glad to hear it! I'll be looking forward to getting mine on sometime next week hopefully. I'm really hoping I can feel a little difference somewhere.

if your pushing more then 15psi, i would recomend 3" exhaust, to answer the is 3" too big. Also if u go 2.5" and you decide later that u want a smaller pulley, a cam, a ported head, then the 2.5 is gonna be too small. Get the 3" for no other reason then future upgrades

hahn. i have it, its the ****, i love it. i have the whole system, header-dp-catback. best exhaust i've heard in person. and to people that people say a full 3" is too much for a stock blower 2.8, i made 273/250 with it.

This is from your website Bolds Italics and ** are mine
  • 304 Stainless steel
  • Mandrel bent
  • Whisper Resonator *shows +80 $ for a magnaflow resonator*
  • Polished Magnaflow muffler
  • Db level same as OEM
  • Hangers in all OEM locations
  • Includes all required clamps and gasket
  • Direct bolt in when used with our 3" exit downpipe
  • Our whisper system includes a custom made resonator

So can you support that this system has same Dba Level as OEM? If so that would be of great interest to me, as the magnaflow resonators and mufflers I have make 100+ dba outside measured to SCCA sound measurement criteria, and at 3000 to 3500 rpm in the cabin the boom/drone is stupid...

I'm sure the 3" sounds great WOT. I got the oval Magnaflow muffler and the 18" resonator (Dynomax I believe) coming to me soon. Do you have the same setup? If so, how is the drone in the car when just cruising along? That is my major concern... that the car will be annoying when just crusing down the highway at 65 or driving around at like 35. Can you provide any input? Thanks!

I made over 400whp with a 2.5 corsa cat back. Not saying it wouldnt be a good idea to upgrade but you dont need a 3in to make power.

dont waste ur money on the zzp or cti cat-back go to an exhaust shop get the same set-up 3" from them for half the price. $519 plus 80 for the resonator not including shipping is the most retarded thing in the world. go to a shop it will be no more than 275 and it will be done while u wait

Im in the same boat right now as far as exhaust goes. Im looking for a 3" exhaust, but cant find one that really want it.....and i have heard most Magniflow setups and hate them

Im leaning toward the Jannetty side exit, but trying to find something that stands out above the rest...

What did you hate about the Magnaflow setups? Were they raspy due to a lack of cat and/or resonator? Too loud?

I had a magnaflow exhaust and it blew out the resonator once, broke the pipe off at the weld at the muffler once, and sounded like hell. Ive since switched to Hahn and absolutly love it. you wont be dissapointed with hahn.
