300-330whp

Hi, I'm new to the forum and ecotec engine. I have an Ariel Atom with a 2.0 eco engine. Can any of you guys tell me if there is parts package that will give me 300-330 reliable WHP? Any links or info will be appreciated. Thanks.

dude! the atom is SWEET!
first off, i think a simple 2.9" pulley, lucas 42lb/hr injectors and a tune would do you justice in that little thing.
found here www.zzperformance.com <--- i got all my stuff there. fast shipping. good service.
good for 40whp over stock.. like 16-17 psi

however, to attain a reliable 330whp, unfortuneately(sp?) you will need to get rid of the supercharger. (my next upgrade) it's not out yet, but I'm confident this kit will lay down more than 330whp.
www.hahnracecraft.com <--- very well respected company in the 4cyl turbo market

Assuming you can put the same parts on them as a cobalt... I would say to get you to 300 whp you are going to need 60 lb/hr injectors, 2.6-2.7" blower pulley, stock should be about 3.35ish if it is the same as the cobalt. You are going to need it tuned, providing it can be. A high flowing exhaust is always a plus and you will need to cool it. Cooling mods would be a dual-pass endplate, again providing it is the same as the cobalt, a bigger heat exchanger wouldn't hurt, and oh yeah a good intake would be a good start.

If you want 300 whp but not all the time... look into the GM Stage 3 kit. Comes with a 50 shot of nitrous and there is a member on here "FNFAST" that has it, his dyno was just over 300 whp. Hope that helps. I honestly would go for the Stage 3 kit to get the 300 whp more reliable because it will not make 300 whp all the time. If you want 300 whp all the time the motor will need pistons and various other internals.

The 2.6 wont be reliable in the long run period. Turbo and you will be set.

^^ you could go this route.. but a few members have been losing piston #4 with the 60lb/hr injectors. i would not recomend it cause you want reliability.

stage 3 isn't a bad idea.. but you want the 330 all the time I'll bet.. the good news, if you go turbo, you will not have to open the engine to go 300+..
let me explain. the s/c gets overspun when you go to small on the pulley. creating HEAT= bad.
if you get turbo kit from hahn (probably $4- $5 thousand USD) it will free up more hp, cause the supercharger will not be a parasite on your belt anymore.. less stress on the engine = more reliable

exactly.. listen to me and shortbus. I'll bet you've got the cashflow to do it too

Thanks for the quick replays. My car has 229WHP the pulley on my SC measures 3.25in the measurement was taken from the outer lip on the pulley. Are the pulley sizes you are quiting been taken from the outer lip or the inner part were the belt runs on the pulley? I need the 300WHP all the time since nitrous is not allowed on road racing. I do have a good exhaust system on the car and a good intake. Brian what comes on this satage 3 kit?

I"m pretty sure it doesn't come with the nos... and he might be better off getting the dual pass end plate, 60lbs, pistons , rods, and a 2.6 or so pulley, and a water meth kit ( if thats even possible on an atom)

or your best/ easiest bet would be a change to some other form of F/i to be safe

for info on stage 3...

They are supposed to but there is some kind of a problem with that. Many of the 300's only have arround 245hp that is somewhere close to 220-230WHP
how do I post images?

^Nope, the new ones (cant remember which year they started) come with the LSJ motor. The older ones came with a RSX Vtech motor.

or, another option.. wait till the supercharger swap comes out (supposedly done in 2 weeks from tomorrow)

this twin scroll s/c will be far better than the roots type that is stock

Yeah, I just checked the Brammo site...

Ariel Stage 2
This provides approximately 245hp at the real wheels as well as 245 foot lbs of torque. This was designed to be the ultimate in Atom performance. Crank horsepower is estimated in the 280-300 range

nope.. some have a K20, the others have the LSJ
according to Leno, the LSJ is a better engine than the K20, and is more balanced
