Question 87 Octane

Is it nessecary that you run 93 Octane with the GM Stage II. Mine seems to run better with 87! Has anyone else had to run 87 instead of 93?

I agree with this comment. If you can't follow manufacture recomendations on a simple issue. There is no way that it runs better on 87 than it does on Premium gas. If you hurt that motor from using the wrong gas, the dealer will void your warranty!!!

Ouch... that was harsh.

Seriously though... to echo everyone else's words. anything less than top grade "premium" fuel in a staged car is just asking for trouble.

It is recommended to run premium in our cars, but it has been done and it is fine to run 87. Our car learns that and tells the computer to take away timing (pretty much detuning our cars) It won't have the get up and go. Like said earlier, I saw a dyno of a stage 2 put down 205 WHP to the wheels, Why because it had 87 and the computer would not let it get any timing, saves our cars from blowing up
