im pretty sure you have to get some sort of "high flow" air filter and remove the bottom cover to get that sound. I dont think just drilling a hole will help too much but who knows try it if you dont mind drilling into your airbox.

I hacked off the box at the end of the tubing. Works great for me. I am using the K&N e-1009 filter. No CEL's or problems for me. No pics tho....sorry.

I have a post about this called cheap clean mods. To do this the best way and to be able to go back to stock in 20 mins do the following. Go to your local hardware store and buy some gutter strap (very pliable metal with adjustable holes. Buy a high flow cylindrical not conical filter. Your stock filter is cylindrical so why get a smaller cone ? Now take the bottom of the air box off. Place the kand n where the stock filter used to be use the strap to tighten. I did not feel comfortable with only the provided strap to hold it in so take the gutter strap you just bought and put it across the bottom of the new k and n then take the stock screws from the removed bottom piece of the air box and screw the strap into the stock holes where the air box used to connect. You now have a CAI that will produce the same HP gains and your SC will whine. You can hear mine down the street so don't listen to these guys that say it wont be loud. Total cost $60. $55 for the filter $5 for the gutter strap. Then when you go in for warranty work if you would like you can go back to completely stock no extra holes or drilling needed. Guranteed no CEL

I drilled holes in the bottom of my airbox before I put on my CAI. Drilling the holes made a little difference in sound, but not much.

My Injen really perked up the sound though.

I think i will go with the gutter strap option for now and wait to know if the GMPP stage 2 will work great (no lean code) with the real k&n typhoon system...
