Just was wondering on peoples opinion and the different intakes out on the market. Any advice i was looking at the AEM. I know it uses part of the stock intake just wondering on performance.

What engine do you have?

From the research I have done, the injen might have a slight advantage (on my 2.2)... but the GMPP has GM warranty and lots of folks like AEM as well.

My only advice is pick the one you can get the best price on... and maybe stay away from the wet K&N types.

I love my AEM Intake, I highly recommend it. I think AEM is dyno proven to give 9.8hp @ the wheels over the stock intake (from AEM's website)

Its worth it for the sound alone, not to mention the extra power and gas mileage!

Here is the link to the dyno results for the AEM intake

Yeah i also love the aem cold air i have on my ss/sc. The install is super easy and plus you get the power and whine from the intake. I'd recommend it. I've had mine for a few months and havent had a single problem with it and no CEL. Plus it looks stock so if you ever have to go back to the dealership they wont give you any hassle about it.

don't you think that is a huge conflict in interest. Do you think they would post up if it made less power, or even none at all?

Just installed mine last week and love it. Good fitment and great sound.

Not to jack a thread or anything, but is anyone running the bypass with the intake? If so, how was the fitment with adding it inline?

well i might totally discredit myself here or might help you out. you can find a cai on ebay for like 80 shipped. yes i know they are no name brands but compare the pics of the k&n, fujito, etc closely they are generally the same shape, diameter, etc. most differences are looks, polishes, and the nicer ones have more expensive materials. but i believe if you are looking for a real budget job here you might try them out. i would bet they would hav eclose to the same hp gain, maybe

I remember reading somewhere that the bypass is not for use with force induction engines. I think you end up pulling air through the bypass all the time.

I mean all it is, is a pipe and a new filter. I mean it isn't rocket science. If the ebay ones are the same diameter, than what is the problem?

Same reason you eat kellogs over malt-o-meal.....Same reason you have name brand items over store brand items...Its not that hard to see the simple reason.

Absolutely correct. AEM actually says not to run the bypass valve with forced induction because like you said, you will always be pulling air from the engine bay. Fortunately you shouldn't have to worry about Hydrolocking your engine, but you should then worry about the money you spent on the CAI not pulling in any cold air. These bypass valves aren't meant for FI engines. I found that out a while ago while looking into one for my 3000GT.

http://www.aempower.com/Faqs.aspx?CategoryID=20

2nd question.

EDIT: AEM here and no CEL for 1300 miles.

that is my point, i am not recommending them, i am just saying if he is trying to keep it cheap he could go that way. it will be better than stock, thats my point. and some of them dont look bad. like i said if hes broke its an option
