AeroForce Scan Gauge
AeroForce Scan Gauge
Hey guys... AeroForce Tech now has a version of their scan gauge for the Cobalt SS. I got one a couple days ago, and am REALLY happy with it. It can scan a whole whack of engine parameters including simple things like engine RPM, coolant temp, vehicle speed, etc., but also more useful things like fuel trims, ignition timing, MAF rate, and even knock retard!!! They were actually able to get two more extremely useful parameters for the Cobalt SS too, namely the SC inlet pressure, and the temperature of the air charge AFTER the supercharger!
After driving with it for a couple days - I'm actually very surprised at how low the post-SC air temps are. At idle, they only seem to creep up to 50-70degF above the pre-SC air temp, and when you're moving (ie decent flow rate), the temps generally stay only 30degF above the pre-SC temp! Looks like the SC isn't heating the charge much at all!!
Here's some pics (excuse the quality, my cam was having a hard time focusing on it.
i couldn't get any daytime pics cause the face of the gauge is so reflective that it kept throwing off my cam!)
My only real complaint with the gauge is that you have to find an ignition wire somewhere to tap into. Not a huge deal, but it does take away some of the "plug and play" appeal of it. All in all, all the parameters + the ability to scan for codes.... this thing is a steal for $220. Now I just need AutoMeter to make a pod for me to put it in.

that is really good considerign the operating temps of the blower i think eaton says it's 180...50-75 degrees lower is huge

They have some generic A-pillar pods, but the fit will suck if it's not made for the car. I'm waiting for either a cluster bezel that can fit two of them, or preferably a center dash pod, so long as the fit & finish is good.

here is a video of the gauge in action on a redline, but he never flipped through the SC inlet option, is it the same gauge?
How did you power it? does it just hook up through the ignition and run from your battery or what?

I'm more interested in the OBD2 version, will it also work on the 05-06 Cobalts?
Heres one that I found:

I just installed an Aeroforce gauge too. I opted to put it in place of the stock boost gauge for now. It was a <30 minute install. I had a switched 12 volt already run in for my piggy back from the ECU so I tapped into that.
I took it out for a spin tonight and I will get some pictures of the install tomorrow when it's light out.
So far very cool. I have boost in PSI and Intake Air Temp 2 (post supercharger) on display right now.

Here is a picture of the gauge installed.
Here is a little video of the gauge in action.
