AFR at WOT

Those of you with tuned cars or canned tunes with wide bands, how consistent is your afr at wide open throttle? I need to know as I evaluate my tune.

Thanks!

should be the same at every point every time. it might fluctuate as you move up the power band however you have your tune.

Mine is pretty consistent. Varies slightly when its colder out etc, but normally stays in one spot or jumps maybe two or three tenths.

what? afr is constantly bouncing around while cruising going from rich to lean. afr at wot should richen up. it's going to hold mostly a solid afr but it will bounce around a little bit. maybe a couple tenths but thats it

I don't think you understand what I said lol, I meant at WOT your afr should be the same, but mine on the other hand gets richer from 4000 to 7200rpm. some people like a flat line same value on the EQ but mine goes from lean to rich. like for ex. 1.0 at 4000rpm and say 5000rpm is 1.2. and I know cruising to light throttle fluctuates..

basically talking about wot fuel not cruising or anything like that. I think that's what the op was asking?

I am hptuned, AFR starts at 10.8 at WOT and slowly leans to 11.4 at 7200. Nice and safe like I want it. Of course this varies with outside temp.

Mine is in the 13's under 3000 rpms, and then it's about 12.1:1-12.2-1 from 3000-6000rpms, and then about 11.7:1 from 6000-7000 rpms

Ugh, yep. Mine is screwed guys, it pulls in getting rich, say from 14-13-12-11.8.9.8.6.8.4.2 (then it leans out, this is @ 5k-5500) 12.1.2-11.9.9(@ about 6k is comes back down)11.2-10.8.5.2

If you can read than in a way that makes sense (xx is the point and .x is in the same point but the tenth) , thats what it looks like. Dang. I'm upset about it too. It is all over the place, roughly the same everytime. What do I need to make him fix. CHEVYCOBALTSS3 help me out man lol. I know your out there ha ha.

you need to get your tuner to tune your WOT fuel again properly.

Your AFR at WOT will be whatever you tuner set it for. I borrowed hpt and adjusted the afr. Cause I am a beginner tuner and did it quickly mine goes from 10.8 and steadily rises to 11.4 -.6. Dont quote me on the below. Most afr guages only go as low as 10.0 so if your guage is reading 10 then it could be 8 for all u know.

Tuners have their own preference. Afr could be flat throughout the rpm range, ramp up I.E. 11.2 @ 2k -11.8 at redline, ramp down I.E. 11.8 @ 2k -11.2 at redline, or maybe even a lean-rich-lean or rich-lean-rich combination.

Someone did a comparison or a ramp up and ramp down tune a while back and the dyno runs were negligible at best.

Anything above 12afr especially in the upper rpm range is usually considered aggressive but the afr is just one part of the tune.

Me personally I would tune in the winter and set it a little lean so when summer comes around it will richen up a bit and u dont have to retune to be safe.

Mine is pretty consistant 11.3 - 11.5 at WOT

It gets alot unstable going from 14.5 up to 15.0 when cruising.

when at idle or even partial throttle, it's normal to bounce around but should be around 14-16 consistently, at WOT or full boost it should be between 11-12 on the AFR gauge. <-- that is the one that matters most. if you're tune or canned tune isn't presenting these numbers during the high boost conditions... then there's something wrong

At the dyno now, we will see how it goes. Idle is being tweaked as well as LTFT. Then a little street logging/tuning.
