Air Box Mod

So i tried just popping off the bottom of the airbox holder tonight to hear the sc whine as some ppl have said ( zip tied the filter in good ) took it for a spin and didn't think i really realized much of a difference. Maybe a little louder , didn't notice any performance gains , so i just threw the cover back on the bottom. Anyone else done this? Some ppl on here were saying it worked awesome. I just couldn't see it being worth while leaving it off... plus i felt guilty leaving it open like that. The point is that I didn't see any difference.

ya i know but a few ppl were saying they just did it with the stock one in there and with the bottom off it sucked more air making it whine more and give you an idea of how it would sound with a new filter. SOme were claiming it made there torque jump up a bit too... i didn't.

Ive never seen anyone say they saw gains by just popping off the bottom and using the stock filter.

i did this BUT DIFFERENT, and all you have to do to get the whine sound is just take of the bottom cover for the intake, it whines up, and i beleive boosts faster, no filter change or nothing, all stock just remove bottom cover, easy and fast!!!!! i love it, oh and i did get code, reset and never came back, no this and dont waste any money until real intake comes out, what i am doing..... good luck

and still spinning and still getting

anyways this is not a good idea to do , but i was under the impression that the whine i heard with the bottom off would be roughly the same as with the bottom on and a k&N air filter in there. I ordered one last week so was curious.

i dont know what your obsession is of locking this thread, he's just asking if there are other people have had no or negative effects.

i myself popped off the bottom, and am using the stock filter. definate increase in sc whine, very small performance upgrade, and only really top end gains. i noticed my boost go up a bit faster, but thats about it.

Also noticed that my l/100 km went from 9.1 average to about 11 - 12 / 100km average with the bottom popped off... more air = more fuel burnt.

You notice this Mcfatty ?

wow talk about a lot of useless replies ... sorry but wow... why add anything if it has no worth ? the gas mileage thing wasn't covered there either... I was through all that . I don't even care anymore tho. Not worth the trouble of the simple inquiry.

The problem now is that your stock filter isn't SAFELY held in place anymore ...

ya I ran wire through the bottom cover bolt holes in an X pattern tight against it so it wasn't going anywhere.... Just put on a high flow air filter tonight tho and it perked up the whine nicely!... little more ***** too . works good.
