Air Box Mod Resolution

ok, so i was thinking....we have sooo many people going crazy over this air box mod thing...so why isnt there some way to get the benifits of open air induction without the risk of cutting up your stock box and all the work of putting in a cone filter!!! I came up with this bracket, it would screw in to the original mounting locations and hold your stock / performance (oem style) filter in place while giving you an open air box at the same time....what do you guys think?

Thats pretty neat, i used weedeater cord to tie it around the little holes just in case my filter decided to get loose when hitting a bumb or something.

tis an interesting idea for sure.

though its so easy to improvise something when you have 4 holes already there to tie or screw or attach things.

yeah, i agree...improvision is good...but some people just dont, or dont want to...and this is a good solid way to hold it in without having to worry if your improvision is going to fail...lol

if you do the airbox mod correctly all you should have is a small hole in the side and a filter that is held in solid. People who hack up the box decide to do so under their own judgement. The bracket idea does seem like a decent alternative though, but since the stock filter is only paper and can't handle water, its definitely smart to still get an oem style k&n or something.

yeah, thats what i would do if i was going with this (i have an Injen) ...but it also negates the need to pull the whole thing out to do a mod...you can just get that plastic molding out of the way, unscrew 4 screws, throw a high flow oem replacement in, and screw the bracket on all without having to yank your intake
