I'm a noob, I know, but I can't seem to figure out the air filter on this car. I've only had it for 2.5 weeks, but I'm getting ready to go on a big trip and I always check stuff like this before I leave on trips.

So how do you check/change the air filter on these cars? Does the headlight need removed? And whats with this Air Box mod I keep hearing about? I pulled the headlight and bracket, but I didn't see anything that looked like it didn't need to be there.

Behind the drivers side wheel wall. It's a black box. Huge. Can't miss it. You have to take the tire and the wheel wall off to access.

You have to remove the fenderwell liner. Its a big pain in the ass. I wouldnt worry about it. If u were going through all that trouble you may as well just install a CAI.

Ahh yes, had to do that on my Pontiac w/ my CAI installed. Oh well, guess I won't worry about it then. Not trying to put a lot of money into the car since I just got it. I'll wait until the effects of my first few car payments sink in before I do that.

But again, what is this "air box mod" I see. I know that my Grand Am had a silencer and I removed it right after I got it. I see that the 2.2L has it, and maybe the 2.4L (I don't know). Is there something that I can do for now until I get a CAI???
