Another Awesome Dyno Stock 05 SS/SC

Ok!! Soooo I finally got my car to a dyno. Its has 12000 miles on it, and was driven pretty hard from the get go (aka not a long break in)

These are the numbers I got:

Now remember, this is bone stock... not even an airbox, or boost bypass mod.

All pulls where in 3rd.

Three Runs:
1. 230.2hp 201.0tq
2. 230.2hp 200.9tq
3. 229.9hp 200.1tq

The guy who did my dyno was extremly impressed. He told me that this was the ACTUAL WHP and WTQ. He said that if he does SAE corrections the HP comes to: 217.4, 217.6, 216.1, but I have no TQ numbers. Again though, he said that the attached graph was what I was actually putting down on their DynoJet.

I am sooo excited... if gm claims 205hp but its really ~220hp... and they say that the stg1 is about ~31hp then it could be closer to about ~40hp... and we might see over ~260hp just from stage 1...

Can you say F@CK YEA!

Yeah 3rd is not going to give you accurate numbers, you need a 1:1 pull in 4th to show what the car is actually putting down.

Before the guy ran the dyno I asked him if he was going to do 3rd and 4th gear pulls, he said he was just going to do them all in 3rd

So what kind of hp would I expect in 4th gear... I would assume its gotta be up into 210 to 220 hp.

Anyone have dyno runs with 3rd and 4th to see the diff in numbers?

what exactly is the difference between a third gear pull and 4th gear.... i mean i know our ration in 4th is 1:1 but what does that mean on the dyno?

Great #'s, Yeah probably low 220's i'd say. Where from NJ are you from? My friend went to turbo trix to tune his Eclipse GSX. He put down 250 to the wheels and still has yet to tune it.

Thanks a lot man! Im from the Edison, Woodbridge Area. Turbotrix was a nice place... ppl were cool.

I have a second dyno sheet they gave me with SAE Corrections and it peaked at 217hp

Even still thats really really good.

Thanks,

too many people hating the 3rd gear pull, honestly, even with a 4th gear pull your going to put up the same numbers minus at most 5 whp. Big whoopie.

Good numbers man.

our cars dont have a 1:1 ratio, neither 3rd of 4th is 1:1. i am not sure of the exact ratios but 4th gear is closer to 1:1 than 3rd is. I dynoed my car on a dynojet at 85 degrees or so outside in Georgia and made 232 fwhp 198fwtq in 4th gear. a third gear pull should yeild slightly better tourque than a 4th gear pull, and with our cars ratios being so close i could only imagine that it would not be much of a gain.

There is about a 10 hp difference between 3rd and 4th gear. Those are great number for 3rd gear, I got 212 stock in 3rd gear and 202 in 4th gear.

There is no problem dyno'ing in 3rd gear. The dyno machine can figure out the gearing from the speed and engine RPMs.

I would interested to see your environmental factors and your SAE adjustment number.

Not to rain on your parade, but the SAE corrected numbers are the ones you use to compare with others.

At the end of the day though, your car appears healthy.

Zinner, the SAE correction factor appears to be about .94. I've seen some very good track #'s coming out of Jersey, they've got good air and low altitude right now.

the difference between 3rd and 4th with respect to the 1:1 ratio is 4th being closer by .07. the fact that 4th gear is over is why you should no dyno in it. good number mang!

so how much is the difference between an eddy current mustang dyno and the dynojet. I dynoed at 202 and 192 stock while astrocrep dynoed at 230.2hp 201.0tq on a dynojet stock.
