Anyone with GM Stage 2?

Hey guys, curious to know the price of a Stage 2 kit.

Also wanted to know how a Stage 2 SS S/C compares to a stock SRT-4. Any takers?

I cna tell you from experience that a stage 2 ss/sc can take a stock SRT-4 if the driver in the Cobalt knows what he is doing. The two cars are pretty equal at that point. A stage2 Cobalt has about 15hp more than a stock SRT-4, but weighs about 100lbs more. Every 100 lbs difference is the equivalent to about 10 hp. In the end it would give the Cobalt a 5hp advantage.

with equal drivers id say the cobalt has a slight advantage. with anything done to the srt at all then its gone. i paid $550 for the kit and $191 for the install.

i honestly dont think you can say a stock srt with win or lose to a s2 cobalt even 75% of the time because some of those srt's are monsters from the factory and others are not much faster than a stock cobalt.

at the track Stage 1 SRT-4 with BOV ran 13.8 to my 13.9. I had a K&N drop in filter, GMS2 only. without BOV we maybe faster.

Someone will point out the DRIVER ability factor but I personally think he was a pretty good driver and I improved a hell of alot that day. previous best with this setup was 14.2.

My objective info. for you. Hope that helps

stage 2 cobalt will take a stock srt for sure no doubts about it in my mind , if you get equal drivers in both cars the cobalt will take it

I recently raced a stage 1 SRT, and he definately pulled away from by a bumper at first, then I pulled back, and away from him towards the end of 3rd gear. But the driver told me he missed 4th gear(although we only went to 80ish, so why was he going for 4th gear?), so as everyone else has said, the driver determines the outcome of that race.(not that i'm that good of a driver)

I think a S2 cobalt should take a stock SRT.

Sounds interesting...I really don't like the idea of having to put premium gas in it in order for the conversion to work...

? Ok...

GM stage 2 kit I read requires premium fuel. The stock 2.0L S/C requires regular unleaded...

dont want premium? are you insane? a ss s/c needs it, ot the pcm defaults to the lower table. you may as well drive a 2.2

Well I already put premium in this car:

GM says you can use regular. But what do I know? I don't own one yet...I'm still researching.

I agree with the rest of the posts. First off, GM HIGHLY recommends premium octane, she can run on lower octane stock, but may get knock and will def lose some performance. Once you start modding, you HAVE to put a higher octane in her or you will cause knock and may cause detonation.

Now, as far as the SRT's go. I have yet to lose to one. I had GM stg2 and CAI and raced one with BOV, Intake and not sure what else, pretty close to stock, and I didn't know I had Stg2 so I was shiftin 500 rpms sooner then I could have and I was reeling him in.

Second race was after I found out I had Stg2 and added 2.79 pulley. He had Stg2 exhaust, intake, BOV and I think that was about it. Not sure if he was just shifting early or what, but I beat him by about half car to a full car each time, from a roll and dig. He got me from a dig then I slowly caught an crept past but he held me to about a half to full car lenght. ALOT depends on driver.
