Blow off valve trouble, lsj turbo swap.
Blow off valve trouble, lsj turbo swap.
My first BOV on my turbo swap was a piece of junk greddy, it would not open or react at all causing compressor surge. I bought a second BOV from zzp (50mm) and now this one opens at 18-19 vacuum. The problem I'm having now is I get a second or two of compressor surge then when my guage reads -18 vacuum the BOV opens and everything is fine. Seeing how my car was set up for a supercharger and all that ****. Do I haveto wait till I get a tune for the BOV to work properly?
Glad to see fellow cobalt owners helping me out. I'm trying to make sure everything is working properly before I put it on the dyno and pay 500$ for something to go wrong. Fucktards.
Yo fucktard, they are helping you. You're the ******* that put a turbo on a car and didn't tune it. Have fun with your new turbo kit all over the road.
They are helping you, you shouldn't drive the car let alone get into boost with that tune on your car.
If your still having issues next month I'll be in Albany and could probably come check it out.
Who's doing the tuning?

First the question where are you getting the source for your bov? Is it from the manifold? Do not use the stock boost controller actuator.
Second is for the tune. Supercharger's have linear boost and you can tune for the air always being their at a certain rpm.
A turbo can be all over the place doo fuel needs to be more dependant on boost. Currently you could be running dangerous lean into the detonation area. I hope it stays together till you tune it.
Third a tune art any dyno shop should be under 300 for a simple tune

You need to drive the car. Log it and take video with clear audio. With BOV issues on turbo swaps its best to hear what the car is doing to help determine what exactly the issue is. Get the turbo spooling under load and the BOV should be actuating just fine under boost.
Post up your results.
Usually that's caused by too long of a line, or using a shared line that is providing boost/vac to other sensors.
Use a good sized line that runs straight to the manifold in the shortest path possible.

I'm not driving the car. Just simply letting it warm up and take it around the block hitting a couple psi. As far as tuning I had byt tune it when it was s3. Now there is a guy about 30 miles from me that is a pretty respectable gm tuner from what I hear. I do have a T in my boost line because of my manual boost controller for the waste gate.
You DO NOT enter boost after a swap until it's tuned, or at least have a base tune run through. You need to baby it...
Also, in all honesty, I love ZZP but their BOV is a piece of crap. Tial Q may solve your issues. I had a similar problem with surge when I was running the ZZP bov.
