These cars seem to dyno higher in 3rd. Even the guys at the shop said to dyno it in 4th, so I did one in each to prove myself right. My clutch is already slipping because it was not intended to handle this much power from the factory. These cars have weak clutches from the factory. Believe me, I know how to drive a clutch, so it's not driver error. I didn't do anything for the dyno except drive it there, they strapped it down and started the runs. Everything is EXACTLY the way it came off the assembly plant. Stock everything.
Thanks for the responses.

I'm not sure what people will dyno with the stage 2 kit, but I'm sure GM underrated the stage kits just like they did the cars. I'm getting ready to do an INTENSE stage 3 kit (with a 2.6" pulley), the proper supportive mods, and a clutch next, I'm hoping for 275-280whp.

Lol, I know. With a 15% drivetrain loss, that puts me at about 268 flywheel horsepower.

Is anyone expecting a clutch recall or TSB in the future? Its hard to believe GM didn't know what these cars were really putting down...

If they get enough complaints, they'll have to.

Not bad standard numbers but what are the SAE? The corrected numbers (I would guess) would probably be around 210 or so which is still pretty good though.

Actually, these ARE the corrected numbers . I made sure of that before I left.

For what it's worth, he showed me std and sae, and they were the same. The weather actually hurt me a little, because it was a tad lower before any corrections.

How come the dyno sheets say STD then?

The ones he printed were STD. I got to see the STD, and SAE. STD figures everything for a 50 degree day. SAE Figures for a 70 degree day. There was almost no difference between the two numbers. When he showed me what it actually made today at that exact minute, it was a few less. I know you don't like these numbers because you have an SRT-4-but these are corrected.

Probably not the reason he was asking... There is some operator error there, probably fudgin' numbers to please customers.. I was gonna keep my mouth shut and not say anything but you opened yours.. A little too high for stock.. Cobalts and Redlines should only be at about 205-215 stock. PERIOD!

Keywords, SHOULD BE! Evidently, some are putting down more, of you haven't noticed...

You've gotta be kidding me! I guess, I knew it was bound to happen. Fast06SS dynoed ~230whp, and there a few others that dynod that stock too. There was no fudging numbers to please anyone. They were just as shocked as I was. Also, when I viewed the numbers, I got to see everything he did. He was using specific dyno software for the dyno. Like I said, the exact, uncorrected numbers were less. SAE and STD were what I posted. The operator made no changes to fudge anything. All he did was show me uncorrected, std, and sae. Don't even come in here and suggest anything like that, when there have been SEVERAL other Cobalts dyno the same as me! Do a friggin' search, and look how many others have dyno'd close. Out of everything I've said, nothing suggests any type of fudging numbers. I explained the difference between uncorrected, STD, and SAE. So, if I go to the track, and run a better time than most, are you going to suggest that the track started the clock late to make me happy? Get a life, and trade your ION in for a 2006 S/C Cobalt SS.

I got to see several Gen V M62's off of Cobalts and Ions that are being worked on. They showed me their porting work, as well as a fully polished blower. Let me say, you've got to get your blower done by them!!! You'll see an increase in air flow, plus the polished exterior rocks!!! Sorry for the advertising, but I think it's somthing that us cobalt/ion owners need to look into doing!

Anyway, time for the numbers. Both runs were made on a Dynojet, one in 3rd gear, one in 4th. Also, dyno sheets are posted below!

3rd gear pull: 232.7whp, 198.6wtq

4th gear pull:232.3whp, 196.9wtq

I want to re-clarify, that this is on a BONE STOCK S/C SS, no changes made from the factory-under 1700miles! The 4th gear pull was done immediately after, with no cool down. Like most of the ones I see, it starts somewhat lean, and is in the high 10s afr by the end. This is with a slipping clutch, it barely grabs anymore. I call it the "sponge". Take care guys.

My guess (post #30 in the following link) at 232 whp and 203 wtq wasn't far off !! I think I'm the nearest ... what do I win ? LOL congrats for the numbers !

Good guess! My brother guessed 232 also, but guessed a little high on the torque.
