boosted 12.5 with only exhaust today???
so i was taking my friend home today, and he was saying how it was slow and a rice burner. so i did a 40 for him. i have a k&n drop in and the ARK GRIP exhaust. started in 2nd, powershifted into 3rd, looked at the boost gauge and it spiked at 15 and held about 12.5. YES I SAW CORRECT! just got the exhaust on and before was hitting 10 only. so whats up with this?
btw is 06 ss

All you COULD be doing is cycling that heat around and around in the blower. which could POSSIBLY make you blow a piston. did it CREEP to 15 PSI or did it jump right up? and im just saying you could POSSIBLY be boost stacking which is RARE as hell on M62's. you see it more on M90's.

im pretty sure it jumped up... but i'm not sure i know it creeped back down to 12.5 just like spiking a turboed car. im gonna go do another 40 to try and figure this out. be back shortly, will try for video
if you can do a vid. TRY but if u cant its ok. 2nd and 3rd gear. and get the tach also with the gauge. or just do both separate vids.
okay dumb question but are you sure you just never really watched your boost gauge when wot until just now? the difference from 10 to 12.5 when glancing you wont notice unless your staring at it haha
here i was over at the 3800pro.com forum and posted a thread regarding this. but since u didnt do it again when u just went out. maybe it was just a idk... car is maybe asking you to do a stage 2. like the pcm told the boost gauge to say like i wanna be HERE at WOT come on!?! lol but here is the reply i got...
Boost stacking can happen when your intake side out flows your exhaust side, or you have too much intake side restriction. The Eaton roots style blower "blows" air into the intake manifold, not really compressing it in itself, this causes pressure in the intake manifold, poor flow in the intake can cause the boost to build and, especially with this type of supercharger, it makes a LOT of heat. This pressure isn't your cylinder pressure, its unusable pressure in your manifold which does nothing but drastically increase the temperature of already heated air, which isn't exactly good for performance, or even running for that matter. from reading that reply from the 3800 forum and ur mods. maybe since u have a "full exhaust" basically 2.50 all the way. maybe its time for air box mod/ cai. which ever. i did a air box mod. love it

yea the cone shaped filter but i left the bottom on...i know sme people do take the bottom off but i thought it was bad to have the unfilterd air just being sucked in
your 16.. my opinion would be to save up for the intake first, becuase if your gonna go stage 2 ( im assuming gms2), your gonna want the intake for better flow anyways. Im 19 full time student and 30 hour a week worker.. i know how the money thing is... therefore that would be my choice. get an injen or w.e your preference is. Worry about the stage kit when you have money to fix something if something were to go wrong.. always remember the what ifs on these cars
Leaving the bottom off is the same as having a cai. A cai doesn't have a box on it. It'll be fine take the lid off the box and let that m62 scream.
