Exclamation Boostin while stopped

Jus today on the way home, i noticed that when my car isnt movin and is in neutral, the boost goes up to 17.5 to 15HG at most. The A/C or any kind of air was off.

I think it might have somethin to due with my Fujita intake. It pushes out the fender and maybe theres a hole in it or somethin but i cant see nothin without takin off the fender. I noticed when i turn my steering wheel all the way my boost goes up a lil.

Any idea on what could be wrong?

that's the ECM opening the throttle more to compensate for the parasitic loss of the alternator caused by the electonic steering trying to force the wheels to turn farther than they should.

Totally normal, you aren't "boosting" either. Boost is anything above 0psi, you're actually pulling vacuum below zero.

a good healthy engine should pull anywhere from 16-22inches of vaccum at idle. less if A/C is on, or some parasitic draw (ie, power steering, alternator) is on the engine

ROFL

I don't think anyone noticed...

Plus...

If you're in neutral, not moving and you're not putting any pressure on the throttle pedal, your throttle body plate is CLOSED and you're ingesting air through your IAC.

correct me if i am wrong, but we dont have an iac, we have an electronic throttle body that controls the idle....

actually no, the tb is shut during idle. there is a small hole on the back side of the tb that controls idle via a valve outside of the tb.

let me make this simple.

anything above zero on your hand dandy guessing boost gauge, is boost.
anything below this handy dandy guessing gauge is vacuum.

19-20 w/ a/c off.

if it rises up like that and keeps going to 15HG, your 02 sensor might be bad...one of mine went out and the car would start to vac up to 15HG....they replaced it and now its fine

So your sayin whenever you put it in neutral your boost gauge goes down to bout 20 and then goes up a lil to maybe 15. I jus noticed that it does that when the cars movin too. If i rev my engine it the gauge goes up then back to 20 then to 15

turn the a/c off.
it's fine, 15 is peachy with the a/c on. autometer is nothing more than an "approximation" gauge.

I never use the a/c. Thats why im worried. It just goes down to 20 then goes up to 15 but not smoothly.
