omg the complete lack of knowledge is sufficating in here. you guys need a lesson in exhaust setups. it is easy to oversize your exhaust, you hear guys talking about backpressure being needed to make hp. completly wrong. more flow is ALWAYS what you want. that being said the diameter of the exhaust is important because you can have too big an exhaust for your engine. a 900 hp supra needs a full 4" a scss does not and would lose power. this is where the myth of "backpressure = exhaust" came from, some guy put a full 4" on his wrx and his car is slower so hes ricer doglets say "yo dog you got to much flow dog, you need some back pressuer dog". a full 2.5 is perfect for a stock to mildly moded sssc. if your target is over 300 hp then you should wait for a 2.75 and a full 3 inch would be plenty for 400 hp. you guys are talking about 2.5 like its for little girls.

this is the best most complete article i have ever seen about exhaust. even though its mostly about domestic v8s it still applies to us. the best is the part about mufflers. you only need 2.2 cfm/hp. anything more than that is louder than necessary. a good exhaust street legal exhaust system will dyno within 1% of the engine with open headers.

They usually dyno test/CG there exhausts so that there exhausts increase flow as well as velocity.

Some people here just shout out get a 3" but have no idea waht there talking about. In a perfect exhaust system velocity is more important than flow.

Borla definitely is a quality product... Ive bought them before and will buy again. Just not for the SS/SC... but only because I want bigger.

Xenozx just kind of implied that maybe Borla 2.5" may be superior due to R&D... atleast thats what I got from his post. Just saying that sure.... There is R&D.. no doubt about it... BUT its certainly not F1, Lemans, NHRA type R&D.... They arent dynoing these things 10,20,30 times perfecting the bends and flowrates.... Theyve already got a path pretty much laid in stone for routing, they engineer some bends that will work and hopefully flow better then stock, do before and after dynos. Im sure Borla/Magnaflow and whatever other companies that have been in the business for a long time can easily improve over stock exhaust systems...

flow and velocity are realated but pipe diameter has an inverse realationship to velocity. there is only so much air to flow and if the tube its going down is really big it is gonna go slower.

I checked and list price is around $500 from GM.

And actually the secret to beating SRT-4's is knowing how to drive. Thanks for the comment ExHondaMan, you would be one of the people I refer to as having no idea what your talking about.
