Bought a cutout

Just getting bored with my car and thought this would be a good way to waste some cash. I bought it from QTP for about $60 shipped. Unfortunately, I never looked into my state laws with emissions and stuff and it is illegal.

So I need some ideas on how to mount it... and make it easy to take off and put on...Otherwise I am going to make some phone calls tomorrow and amke friends with some local shops so I can pass inspection

Buy their electronic controller too. Screw crawling under the car. its worth the 150 dollars.
i say put it anywhere before the resonator. I ran two on my balt, one on the DP and one before the muffler.

I am worried about not passing inspection...not opening or closing it. In PA it is illegal so did you pass inspection????. I wasn't sure if I could make it bolt on and be able to bolt back on straight pipe in its place when getting emissions

Guess i read the question wrong in the first post, but...

I cant see them saying anything as long as its capped off, and if they do explain to them that you ONLY use it at the track.

The one in the DP was loud enough to rattle everything in the car lol.

The one before the muffler was placed after 2 36 inch resonators, so it sounded like a nice smooth performance exhaust.

With both closed my car was quieter than stock. My exhaust was all 3 inch with a pacesetter header.

So should I put it toward the muffler or closer to the downpipe. I still have a stock catback, and my dad said to put it right after the DP, but I though just before the muffler would be a batter idea. He said I wouldnt get any performance out of it though...just louder

Well towards the muffler i doubt you would gain much, so i vote DP.

You will lose low end Tq but gain top end HP.

Before the cat obviously.

I agree with the guy above...make a bolt in straight pipe for emissions to replace cutout. Means welding flanges to the cutout as well as straight pipe (test pipe).

i see no reason to have to remove the cutout to pass an inspection as long as its capped.

I doubt it will fit before the cat.

just get a catless dp and put the cutout on that and just keep your stock cat in tacked, plus you don't half to worry about having room issues on the dp with the cat. and when it comes for emissions or inspections just put your stock cat back on.

i just did mine a week ago you need to do it after the rear o2 sensor or you will have codes unless u tune for it. also its a lot nicer to just flip a switch, i have the electric cutout, and it is so f-ing loud and u will only notice the power on 3 gear and up pulls is what i noticed.

It wont fit before the cat unless I get a new downpipe and I dont want to go that route. If there is enough room before the resonater then it will go there. If there isn't then it will go after the resonator when the exhaust bends toward the rear drivers side wheel.

Where is the rear O2 sensor???

you are gonna lose low end power with a cutout no matter what unless you get a tune.

no, it's manual. I don't have a problem with reaching under the car to take off 3 wing nuts.

got to tune for it, and if you did tune for it, then that's your opinion. To me, it was a cheap exhaust system. I can be quiet as stock now (which I like for everyday driving) and still have the gains of a full exhaust with the cutout.

Once I get my car tuned, will I gain back all of the low end power back? I plan on getting it retuned for meth next summer.

As of right now I am planning on putting the cutout right after the resonator near the rear driver side wheel. Is that pretty much useless and if I shouldnt put it there where should I put it?
