Budget...
If i were to lets say...be on a budget.. would it be cheaper to go straight to stage 2? or should i do stage 1... or is stage one not even worth doing(as in no difference over stock)
|
Save up the extra $165 and get the stage 2
|
woth the wait for stage 2...
|
stage 1 is good, if you wanna go smaller than the stage 2 pulley at some point.
stage 1 gives you like 30 horses, but not really any torque. stage 2 gives more hp than stage 1, by adding more boost.. this in turn gives you torque i think the claimed #'s are stage 1: 235hp / 200tq stage 2: 241hp/ 218tq i really have no opinion on what one to get, since i decided to go aftermarket. but i hope the facts help you. p.s. check out the STAGE KIT *sticky* at the top of the tech page |
stg 1 doesnt give you any power or tq. lol. Just the ability to put on a 3" pulley and if you want a 2.8.

if you want to save and also want a lil more power than stg 2, just get stg 1 and a 2.9

Nope they are the same . I bought stage one and it came with stage 1 and 2 instructions . It said if you have already done the stage 1 flash that you can skip to the next step in the stage 2 installation procedure.

I got a question If I piece together my own stage kit can I still get the GM reflash tune?

good so now this is going to let me do stage 1 and then get a 2.9" pulley and put that in, now when i go to the dealer to get a reflash what do i tell them?
I bought stage one and then bought a used stage2 pulley and hub, even with the special blue bolts and socket , my car runs great not even a hiccup. |

Nothing , just tell them you want your stage one flash and then go home and put the 2.9 on . I suggest putting it on afterwards just incase they want to test drive it or something stupid .

No... the flashes are the same... it allows for 15PSI at peak power.... if your car won't make 15PSI b/c of still running the stock pulley... the ECU isn't gonna give it all the extra fuel it needs to compensate for increased boost.
Just like you can get the car to redline without being on the throttle hard enough to get into boost. The ECU is only gonna add fuel for the airflow it detects. |

Watch ebay for the stage 2 kits....i bought one for 350+15s/h. had no problems getting it installed. Then i bought a 2.8 pulley. I hit 18psi no problem now
