Cai?

Alright everyone I have an 07 SS/SC. I have been looking at getting a CAI for it. I have heard a lot of people talking about how they have them. Im actually wanting the Typhoon kit from K&N but I don't see one for the 07. I see one for the 06 though. Are they the same motor by chance and i can use the 06? Also it says it's CARB exempt that means it's legal in california if I get my hood popped right? Anyone have any insight on this? Or other CAI's?

most drill a hole to put a nut-driver ir 1/4" extension for tightening the clamp on the neck of the filter. I reached down in with a 1/4" ratchet and never even had to drill a hole.

Anything for an 06 will work on an 07 intake wise. Can't tell ya about Cali though whether it's legal or not. I think they're all 50-state legal but I'm not the one to ask on that one.

It's the same engine, and the same part. The only way to know if it's legal is call and ask K&N.

airbox mod is a matter of opinion. metal/steal holds heat way longer than plastic, feel a car that has ran with metal cai and stock plastic, the plastic gets rid of the heat, so why wouldnt oem use it, and dont say cost. plus it looks stock when the dealer opens the hood, even though the cai s do not void a warranty. i have read of many cai rubbing the hood and have also witnessed it. not saying they are bad, but for the price of a good filter, its more bang for your buck. not knocking cai s, just spent the extra $200 elsewere and still the butt dyno says it works.

The hp increase for a cai is minimal to begin with, and the a.b.m. is a little less. Way back when there was a long comparrison between the 2 (search posts) and the results were in favor of the cai, but not enough to burn down any hides. You will hear that supercharger, too. Check this sites vendors for a AEM Dryflow part #21-2110DK. That is the non oiled filter with flow.

K guys no more need to post. Decided on the A.B.M. it's the most cost effective thanks for the advice

hey rusty, the air box mod is good, but not as good as an intake, a purpose built intake has smoother flow, and is consistent in width the whole length. there is more to an intake than HP. throttle response, fuel mileage, sound, and finally yes, power. i have an Injen now, and it made my emissions CLEANER. i'm upgrading to the Rebel 3", IMO it's the best intake for our cars, hands down.

just cutting up the stock box is nice, but not as good as it could be. spend the money, with cars, you truly get what you pay for.
