CAI vs Drop-in Filter for SS/SC

I've seen and read the posts on the K&N CAI coming out shortly, FrankMcKeever's own CAI system, and the Airbox Modification a member posted on. My question is that will I see any more gains from piping? Or will a simple highflow conical filter replacement give the same gains since the CAI systems both go to the same location as the stock "CAI". My goal is to go w/ stage two from GM, but noone has any concrete info on what that will include. Think I should get a CAI, do the filter replacement or just wait for Stage2 to be released?

I'm not just talking brands tho, I don't see how one person's piping for the system can be THAT much better than OEM cuz they all look to be the same shape, and I think metal would attract more heat. I'm thinking more along the lines of - A filter replacement might be engh of a gain to hold up til Stage2. Most of the gains from the CAI for the SS/SC would nearly be all from a filter you'd think. Can anyone explain why a metal tuping would be better then the stock plastic?
