You technically need cam gears, thankfully your car came with them stock.

I'm such a jackass.

they could prob make you cams for a pushmower if one were ever so inclined to do so.
and no you do not need ADJUSTABLE cam gears to run aftermarket cams.

No... But keep in mind the comp cams do not fit the LSJ 2.0L, even though Comp Cams publishes they do... They don't...

Why not? I plan to and know at least one other person who is running comp cams in an LSJ head...

Who has them? Without modifications? It has been discussed many times, the exahust or intake cam (cant remember which one) is longer on the 2.2L. The 2.0L uses a shorter cam... (I think the intake cam)

Read up on it, you maybe suprised...

Most people don't realize you need to port the head on the exhaust side to take advantage of the cams.

I think it's the other way round. The LSJ has a longer exhaust cam than the 2.2, however if you blank off the oil path at that end of the cam on the LSJ head then it fits.

A guy called vocky in the UK has done it, see here:

Yeah, but he is cheating a bit...
He (you will probably also in the VX ) runs that LSJ head without the cam sensor on a stand-alone ECU.

(Will work on the LSJ ecu too, if you don't mind cranking a bit while trying to start. )

Ah right No cam sensor required for the VX and I'll be using the standard ECU to run the LSJ
