hey guys i just installed on my friends car 2.7 on 60lb injector with intake,exhaust,header etc, and he ordered the zzp tune, well we put everything together n the car is running like **** n its boosting like 20 psi n i know on a 2.7 it should boost 18 n the check engine light turned on after a while, car feels slower then stock,anyone have any idea why car is doing this???/ THANKS

If he is boosting that high its very possible the cat is going out.

 

my car stcok and it boosts at 14 lol need to have the CEL read first then go from there.

 

its the kitty kat most def

 

its would also make it slugish

 

theres no cat

 

if the C-E-L throws on, the car is reduce in power (we found that out the hard way in my buddies cobalt) which is why the car runs slower than stock

but it could be the cat,
maybe the upgrades being they arnt tuned in the Ecu yet?

60lb injectors from stock is a huge jump with out a tune..

HEY maybe the wires could be crossed? kinda like how you mix the wires up on a distrib CAP and the car starts to miss fire, throw codes or even go BOOM! =D

with no cat did you put back in the o2 sensor?
or @ least have it tuned out

He has a zzp tune mate, which could be some of the problem. Are you sure the car is boosting up to 20lbs? Without a cat and hitting 20lbs he would have to be on a very small exhaust and a very very small pulley, 20lbs is quite a bit for a 2.7, although possible depending on the rpm's your turning.

If there is a check engine light start with that and let us know what codes its throwing.

 

might have installed something wrong or didnt plug something back up? GO GET THE CODE READ!!! then go from there thats why you have a cel

Does he have hptuners or is he using there actual pcm. Has he installed the pcm yet or is he waiting for it? Just check the basics first, but 20lbs of boost is a LOT on a 3inch catless exhaust system. Are you POSITIVE its catless?

 

they sent him the new pcm with the tune in it n yes it catless n when u punch it, it goes to 18 n then it drops down to 20 slowly

Maybe he means -20?? Who knows. Let us know what the code is and we will go from there.

 

theres no way it can drop from 18 to 20, it must be boosting up but dropping down to -20...could it be because the car got put into limp mode from re doing the pcm and not giving it time to adjust to it? or maybe the 60's are dumping to much fuel in the engine and its flooding it?

 

when u punch it the boost goes to 18 n slowly goes to 20 n the code was for the o2 the first one

 

ok the cat is deleted right? theres gotta be something wrong then because the O2 sensor is gonna read wrong because there is no cat...maybe ZZP fucked up the tune, ive heard alot of stuff about ZZP screwing up peoples tunes....

 

Is the intercooler pump running ? Did you recently install a 2nd HE or anything like that? I remember when people IC pumps died they noticed an overboost condition.

A tune can't make it produce more boost than a pulley is mechanically capable of producing.

 

i just meant because he said it has no cat and its throwing an O2 sensor code....figured maybe ZZP didnt factor that in on the tune they gave him thats y its throwing the code..
