Carbon Fiber Intake Short/Long

Anyone ever heard or seen this with our cars? I know i've heard of it with other but i would like to see something like this. Even with the short ram intake would hold off te heat alot longer than aluminum for sure and keep the AIT down! Why hasn't anyone done this yet if not?

its not really gonna do much. it's not gonna have real noticeable affects at all...just go buy a front mount heat exchanger or the dual pass

I am talking about Real Carbon fiber... One of the supporting vendors is curious if people would be interested. I think the biggest benefit would be that it doesn't get nearly as hot and as fast like aluminum intakes. The cooler the parts the lower the intakes temps right? Especially on track days sitting in the staging rows.... not to mention more carbon! heh

you're not fully understanding the heat absorbtion properties when air speed and materials containing the air are in effect.

did i lose ya? probably.

air speed vs heat

Well it would be hard to prove if it at all would change. I understand what your saying Area47 and it may not make a difference... but i know if i touch my AEM intake after it's been running it's pretty hot. I would think a carbon fiber one would benefit and at least defend against heat comming from the motor and heating the air in the piping. I can see it not making much of a difference at WOT but what about when your sitting in lane at the track like i previously stated? I think we could tell some difference?

haha nice catch. i guess he's pissed at himself for buying the aem instead of the "cheaper" intake that does the same thing.

I have a short ram and no prefilter. Haven't had any problems up here in the northwest even during heavy down poor.... i just wouldn't advise driving through any deep puddles!

Anyone ever tried insulating their intake? Like say with exhaust wrap or something? Sure, it wouldn't look too great, but CAI's are mostly made for performance, not looks. Just throwing that out there...

for the amount of performance it would offer, it would be pointless to heat wrap it or something.

But just because u buy it off of ebay dose not mean its junk. Ive spent almost 5gs in my car this spring, evreything bought off ebay. Just to think of it i should be sponsored by ebay lol.

I believe air temps would be the goal here, not performance. However, by lowering air temps, better performance can be achieved. Catch my drift? Along with other cooling mods, I'm sure what ever little bit this helped would be worth it. It's not like exhaust wrap is uber expensive anyways...
