not always.

backpressure comes into play.
not on forced induction cars.

you just don't want to do oversized piping. proper sized piping is the key to maintaining a nice powerband that doesn't move torque way up in the range

dezzie just go with a hi-flow cat.

Pro's for hi-flow cat:

-less restrictive then stock
-more hp/trq
-pass MVI

Cons:

-depending how you like it, louder
-costs more then catless

Pros for catless:
-less restrictive then hi-flow cat
-in some cases, more hp/trq

Cons:
-sounds like ass
-sounds like a ricer
-sounds like a pissed off weed wacker
-fail MVI
And did i mention it sounds like ass?

backpressure plays with any internal combustion engine.

backpressure is the enemy. you want as little backpressure as possible while having the highest exhaust velocity
