no its not neccessary for a tune u would actually being freeing up alot of exhaust flow but if u already have a header and crap that has been tuned i wouldnt worry about it. atleast u wont have to worry about it getting clogged and causing excessive exhaust temps and backpressure.

get ride of the cat, it caused nothing but problems for me, it was throwing off my afrs and causing my car to lean up under wot, so i ended up turning off the cat over temp sensor so i could fine tune the afrs, a month later i just ended up getting a catless downpipe and i could be happier, i just used the catted pd for when inspection comes around

I took a long drill bit and just drilled my cat out. Worked like a charm. There really isnt any other way to do it unless you just completly cut the cat off. My car was significantly louder, and i could actually feel a little bit of a difference. I kept blowing them up with the factory stage 2 tune and pully. For the rear o2 go buy 2 spark plug anti foulers from autozone looks like a tube with a little hole in the middle and threaded on the outside. combine them and put it between your O2 and your pipe. that will keep your CEL off.

ok nice thanks hope it doesnt need tune rightaway but if it does than i will get rear 02 code removed during the tune so i dont get cel every day so ur happy with catless?

I had catless.

Was a little raspy but thats because i had a exhaust with no resonator. As soon as i got a resonator welded into my cat back.. the sound was awesome.

make sure you dont just gut the cat, its dyno proven that you lose a couple horse dude to turbulence caused by the inside of the guted cat, i rally didnt notice it being that much louder a little sharper, and i have three inch from the header back with a resonator

no you will actually gain some. by removing that restriction the exhaust gases can exit faster. low end torque might suffer some, but on the dyno mine really didnt. dont have dyno graphs on hand but i dynoed at 242hp/202tq with just catless and 212/201 stock.
