Thumbs up CEL for cai fix by GM

I was in the service managers shop trying to get help for a programmer to get into GM's code. During the conversation it was mentioned that there is apparently a fix for the cai CEL seperate from the Stage kits. The service manager and shop foreman both discovered this after doing a scan on upgrades(software) done to my car.

They will probally make you have another reflash for intake, exhaust, header combo or something. They are probally developing an intake. Gm is about making money as any business so I'm sure this is in the plans somewhere. They now the upgade ability of these cars. It makes sense for them maybe the next stage kit will include I/H/E and another reflash? But hey who knows...

it is an update from GM, it is for the airflow and the service manager believes this clears the cel (they installed my K&N) the update # 12601774 ( 12601775, 12601776) is for "new calibration with diagnostic enhancements for dtcs p0128 and p0603".
This come from a summary off of a Service Programming System computer window.
Some GM tech on this forum should be able to authenticate futher.

I hope this helps out guys.

There is no "new" calibration
The calibration file you are referring to... 12601774 was issued last May to address issues with the P0128 and the P0603 diagnostics. It's reference is documented in TSB# #05-06-04-038C
In short if you've had a reflash since last May... you HAVE the latest calibration (other than the Stage kits of course)

I actually just checked my Calibration info for my car via
http://tis2web.service.gm.com/tis2web
and I do have 12601774 reflashed in my car, this is exactly what it says

Part Number CVN Description
12601774 00002158 New calibration with diagnostic enhancements for DTCs P0128 and P0603.
Part of the reflash with the stage 2 kit maybe? Or just something new out that they did since my car was there, because I never asked tem to or inquired about any fix for CELS with my CAI.... That's a nice little link tho, check it out. Just put in ur VIN and you can see all the PCM info of ur car basically, if thats already been posted b4, my bad!

As I mentioned in the thread about GM pissing me off there seems to be a lot of hiding the truth about what was done in stage 2. Now it seems that everything my service manager told me yesterday is either smoke GM is blowing up his ass (to protect GM code) or smoke he is blowing up my ass to keep me spending money there. Either way I am very choked about it and I will let them know in no uncertain terms when I am back there tomorrow.

Thanks for running those #'s WOP and I will bring this to the attention of the service manager tomorrow.

Remember , what you see on the GM cal site is what calibration SHOULD be in your car's PCM- not neccessarily what's actually there. You would have to use a scan tool to check what cal files you currently have to be 100% certain. But those files were released last May so as long as you've had a reflash since then - you already have the latest reflash.
*This applies to 2005 models only- 2006 models should already have the latest files (different numbers)
PLUS - if you've got Stage 1 or 2 the file numbers will NOT show up in the GM Cal site (at this time)

So Rod
What calibration files show up when YOU put your VIN into the GM Cal site?
Does it show a number AFTER 12601774?

No it doesnt mean they are playing with you (finally!)
The Stage kit calibration ID may not show up in this tool for a while (if ever)
As long as you have the new 7000 fuel cut YOU HAVE the stage calibration
The CVN# is just a hex based identifcation number IFAIK

Well there is no doubt about having the rpm's reach 7,000. Thats my newest hobby, faster acceleration.

After your Stage 2 kit is installed, is there any other way to make sure that you have the 7000 RPM fuel cut off with out actually taking the vehicle to 7000 RPM's. My stage 2 kit was installed today at Gordon Chevrolet. I picked my car up at 6:00 PM tonight.

Why have stage 2 if your not going to use it's full potential at least once? Anyways that is the easiest way to know for sure with out some type of investment in some type of scanner eqipment (which I know nothing about)
