I met someone once that had one of these kits or something similar on their Silverado SS. I asked if I could log the truck on a few of the different settings you can adjust. Each setting seemed to sway the fuel trims about 8%, and I think she ended up with the trims pretty close at setting 4 out of 6 I believe it was. That was on the winter blend of E85. One thing I noticed however was that there wasnt a substantial increase in timing between each setting, so some power and especially fuel economy were being left on the table.

I dont have the luxury of E85 availability here in CT. Maybe im just stupid but doesnt E85 like to corrode rubber hoses and such. I know when trucks switch to biodiesel it usually eats the rubber lines away.

I would like to see what a regular flex fuel vehicle could do with a tune on E85. Im sure the tune has not that much timing in it for E85.

Older cars it erodes the rubber tubing, newer cars are built differently and therefor has no problem with it.

just get 80's, a return system, and a tune and call it a day. More worth your efforts.

These kits run off the fuel trims like most Maf controlled cars. They monitor the fuel trims and add fuel as necessary. "Technically" almost any newer car could be considered "Flex Fuel" up to a certain point. All cars are already designed to run E0 to E10. Most could probably run up to E20 without a problem but the Fuel Trims would be off and over fuel economy would suffer.

In LSJ's the fuel trims have to be off by more then 25% to throw a code.

so i have a question for those of you LSJ's that are using E85,

what cooling mods do you have ? is dual pass worth it ? or is opt. b + fm h/e enough with e85 ?

on a 2.8 pulley ?

E85 acts as a cooling mod in itself, it burns cooler than gasoline but requires 30% more fuel to keep the combustion up. if you ran E85 with no cooling mods you would probably be fine on a 2.8 pulley

I would run at least a dual pass. I personally have a dual pass and flow through tank from my 93 2.8 tune. If u saw how hot the iat2 got on a pull or two with no cooling mods u wouldnt even question getting them. Why increase the chance of a blown motor for <$200 in parts.

I have a dual pass and cobra H/E. I know guys running stock blowers on 2.7's on the stock cooling system. Have been for a couple years.

As for the 91 vs E85 price comparison, that varies with the region. Around here E85 is around $2.40 a gallon and 91 is $3.20. If you mean cost vs. fuel efficiency, then they about break even for fuel expenses.
