Check your FUSES!!!

So for the last few months my car has had a small stutter from gear to gear, almost like it wasn't getting enough fuel or getting enough air and the check engine light has been on. I assumed the check engine light was on because of the aftermarket exhaust. Well today I was curious and took it to my local Chevrolet repair shop and had the car scanned with the Tech 2 Chevy scan tool. It came up with like six codes, one of which was a clutch pedal code??? Anyways, the others were for the egr system and the catalyst system. So the guy checked my fusebox, I had a small simple fuse burnt out. Fired up the Scan tool, deleted my codes, and it cleared all my egr codes and my car has no stutter at all anymore, gets better mileage, and idles smoother.

I've been saving hundreds of dollars because I thought this was going to be a thousand dollar fix and it turns out it was $31.80.

Crazy.

It's good to know though that there isn't a damn thing wrong with my cobalt!!

The fuse that was bad was the ecm/trans fuse, it's a 15A fuse. I was saving hundreds to fix this problem and a 15A fuse, which the cars come with extra, was the only problem.

Keep in mind ALL these codes were cleared when he put a good fuse in.

PO833 - Clutch Pedal Switch Circuit
PO443 - EVAP
PO141 - H02s B1 S2
PO135 - H03s B1 S1
PO102 - MAF Low Frequency
PO036 - H02s B1 S2

CHECK ENGINE LIGHT IS ON
CHECKED CODES, SEE ATTACHED PAPER, REPLACED ECM FUSE, CLEARED CODES, DID NOT RESET, ROAD TESTED CUSTOMER TO ADVISE

The 30 dollar charge was for a half hour of labor and use of the Tech 2 scanner but the guy was amazing helpful and advised me on a few other things. Replacing this fuse though did more then wonders for my car, instead of chirping second it'll roast the tires through about 55 and then spin going into third gear again like it did before!!!!!

I couldn't be happier.

Unfortunately though my check engine light came back on today after more then 24 hours of not being on but it's because my catalytic converter is emptied on the car. It still runs amazing so that fuse is definitely worth checking if you have a problem.

I have a feeling you'll have problems with the emissions people in a couple years with your current exhaust, lol.

Nah, I know a local shop that inspects and does performance modifications all the time and then chooses to overlook them come inspection. They've done ALL my exhaust work and they know me there, I'm good for life.

I've seen a lot of the Clutch Pedal Switches come in. Its a switch at the top of your cluctch pedal assembly and when you push in the clutch it pushes in this little plunger. It only sets a CEL if you change gears without the switch sensing clutch movement. Just make sure your pressing the clutch fully.

Or you could have gone to Autozone and had them scan it for free.

I've been to autozone a few times and done the scan there but I wanted the detailed scan that showed everything. The Tech 2 does a lot more of an in depth scan and takes readings to make sure the car is running right too, peace of mind is worth 30 bucks to me my friend.

He never actually showed me the fuse he just walked over and said he replaced it with one of my spares, I would assume that it was totally fried.
