Clicking Noise Anyone?
Clicking Noise Anyone?
Hey guys I have a clicking noise coming from the outside of my 06 ss/sc. I'm not quite sure what it is, but it occurs in 1st, 2nd, and sometimes 3rd gear. Usually when I accelerate and then decelerate it clicks just like a loud pen click. I was wondering if its my axles or maybe my control arm bushings and what the dealership could do about it?
No that is wrong if you have a broken axel youll deff. know.. you wouldnt move from one spot... its probably the bushings. do you have a clicking noise when you back up? it sounds like its on all the wheels?

Well its not like this randomly happens I hear it everytime i let off the gas in reverse 1st 2nd and sometimes 3rd gear. I accelerate and then stop it clicks and I can do it everytime if I want to.
Ok i know.. you have the same problem as most of the cobalts have its normal and wont hurt anything... i bought my car brand new and after about 8k miles mine started doing that and i now have 52k miles on my car and no problem at all.
the dealer is not going to do anything i already tried that.. they looked it over more than 5 times and couldnt find anything wrong. they told me that is could be the washers we have on the rotors and your wheel goes against.. he said they spin so im guessing thats the clicking noise. but thats my guess
lol yea very faint click, I talked to the dealer once and they said they had heard of a problem with control arm bushings might as well have them check it out? Prob due to our horrible wheel hop I made **** loose.
You shouldnt have any problems then. I had a stage 2, vibrant header, 3" intake, torque dampener on there and whatnot. What my dealer did was take a wrench, vise grips or something of that nature and put tortion on the axle(s) and that should produce the same noise. I imagine they have to really crank on it though. Ask if you can remain with the car while they perform the test.
