Clutch Dilema
okay, i'm looking for something to maintain a "street" friendly clutch because it's going in my DD. right now i'm pretty much set on the spec stage3+ because of its torque capacity and its not too harsh engagement.
now, i won't say who. but i have an AWESOME deal on an exedy stage3, no its not TTR. but...exedy stage3 has the 6 puck design, so the engagement would be rather harsh, and the noise level as well. but this deal is amazing. would it be worth the engagement issues and the noise for this clutch? this will also be used in my future build. also keeping that a secret but its not like either of these will be going in an otherwise stock car.
so, poll.
Spec Stage3+ Street friendly with a not too harsh engagement.
Exedy hypersingle stage3 Harsh engagement with 6 puck design and not so street friendly...but its an exedy hypersingle!!!
bump. need help guys

who told you the hypersingle is harsh and not street friendly?
i found it far more streetable than i even expected from a performance clutch.
Im also selling mine quite cheap right now. only 500 miles on it

how is it on a daily driver? cause i really need to get one soon. i'm in stop and go somewhat often(just a lot of stop signs and lights) so i want something that isn't too bad on engagement

**EDIT- If you want something that engages like stock but holds the power look for a twin-disc clutch.

I love my SPEC 3+. I was a pain in the ass at first, it would catch instantly but after about 250 it broke in nicely. Now I have almost 1,000 miles on it and its great. It drives just how you want it to, holds everybit of power and goes out smoothly from stop and isnt bad to drive in traffic. The pressure plate is stiffer than stock but not enough to kill your leg. Just my 2 cents. Hope this helps

how about for someone who will be going from stock right to exedy stage3 or spec stage3+.
now, my cousin has an '89 5.0 gt with a performance clutch. plus everything else he's done to that beast. and it isn't too hard to drive. i think he had about 1,200 miles on the clutch whenever i drove it though

How good is the deal on the Exedy? If its near the price of the Spec, i'd get that for sure. Otherwise, save a little money and go with the Spec. Exedy is not harsh, but its pricey.

Honestly, it's a toss up. The only thing to consider is while the lightened Spec flywheel is billet aluminum, the Exedy is steel. I vaguely remember from the research I did that steel flywheels are stronger and more desirable since aluminum ones can crack the hub and fail.
Ultimately, I'd say get whichever is cheaper. Both are great products - just make sure you take it to a trans shop that knows wtf they're doing.
