this can't drive arguement has been played out. I know how to drive stick and mine slipped , got warrantied and it still slips. I have had my drivers licence longer than most of you have been alive. I carry a commercial drivers liscence and operate heavy equipment. I am no rookie and can tell you that the clutches on these cars can and do slip. So lets not blame the driver everytime.

DRIVER ERRAH!

Seriously, you gotta be harsh with it. After shifting into 2nd you gotta DROP your foot off that clutch, then floor it. Act like you are going to knee yourself in the face, that's how hard I drop it when I shift. I get a nice squeal from the tires each time. 25,000 hard, hard miles on my car.

Troof. Remember what they say kids... clutch costs more than tires.

Good test... get going about 20-30mph in 2nd... throttle up a bit, drop the clutch, and floor it. On mine I can smoke the tires til the rev limit. I can also purposely slip my clutch if I shift wrong... it's such a touchy clutch lol.

I drove my friends SS SC who was on his 2nd clutch, and was bitching that his clutch was slipping on the 1-2 shift yet again. Opened it up in 1st, hit 2nd, and chirped the tires. He was like WHATTHEFUCKOMFGNOWAIII

It's all in the feet.

Their not going cover your clutch. You should re-read your warranty, some where in it will say they don't cover break pads/ fluids of any sort or clutchs ect. Plan on saving your money for a new clutch. I just bought a spec clutch stg 3+ a few months ago along with a flywheel.(73,000 miles on original it i never had a problem i just did a new one while the tranny was off during my rebuild) I spent 900 for both, and that was a deal from prices that i have been seeing. They are brand new. Expect to pay anywhere from 500 - 1,700, depending on what you get. Exzedy's dual friction clutch w/flywheel would be the most expensive buy, being around 1,700. and thats not including having to pay someone to install it, unless you know how to do it. but it never hurts to try and see if they will fix it thou, but im pretty sure they won't

If you're racing the 1/4 you will run slower... the LSJ makes power right up to redline.

Hmm, I've got almost 67K miles on my car and am still on the original clutch. And if I get on my car I don't have clutch slippage. All I get is chirping tires. Best thing you can do is just drive the car easy for a little while. Or else your clutch will get to the point to where it won't even engage. Happened to a friend of mine.

this is the guy that ***** it up for all of us. abuses his car and then make the dealership pay for it.

60k hard miles on the stock clutch. I just don't slip it, these things hate heat. As soon as it slips, if you don't give it a break, you toast the clutch.

Dude your fly wheel is shot because you rev it to the limiter 3 times before u go fast... It hurts your car!

If you spin in 1st and short shift...... or don't get the car up to top speed in 1st for some other reason......then shift 2nd hard ... your gunna have trouble with these stock clutches . The gearing difference between 1st and 2nd is a bit much IMHO, but if you realize this and adjust your driving style , the stock clutch can hold its own.

Im not speaking to anyone here but Ive seen guys in stock SS's get some tire spin and first then powershift 2nd going like 20 MPH. AND they wonder why the clutch slips. Once it's hazed and hot it takes awhile to recover.

yo question!!! couple days ago i realized cruising in any gear around 3k if you just hit the gas a little ,not talking about anything crazy, but sounds like the clutch will slip out a little for about 500 rpms before it fully engages agian. though taking off in 1st and shifting between gears there are no problems what so ever. i beleive the clutch is slipping but would like others inputs. don't be a dick, i know how to drive the car, and there are people on here than can back that up.

I couldn't agree more with this, the gap between 1st and 2nd gear is just a tad too large for some reason. You really have to take the car to around 4k rpm at least to get a good 1-2 quick shift, otherwise you have to adjust your driving to wait that extra second to engage 2nd gear. I learned this the hard way. It doesn't take much to glaze the stock clutch on these cars. The best advice I can give to avoid clutch slippage is:

1. Shift at at least 3k rpm

2. Get used to and perfect your timing for the 1st-2nd shift

3. Don't ride the clutch too much and shift aggressively as much as possible

Quick Reply: clutch slippage :(
