clutch slipping at 45K miles???

hey whats up i got a 07 cobalt ss with a 3inch vibrant exhaust and cai.
OK.. now the problem is when im in third gear about 3000k rpms and then i floor it the rpms like fly to the redline but the car doesnt go that fast.. lol after that the rpms go back to 3000 and it like goes with the flow, so i dont know if this is clutch slippage? i want it to take it to the dealer but there ******** over there.. so idk if me just having the 3inch mandrel bent exhaust will void my warranty if anything i get the clutch fixed.. help what would you do in this situation!

Don't believe clutches are covered under warranty anyway. Yeah that sounds like it's slipping. Does it smell horrible (or at all) after it happens?

mine does that too. i have an 06 ss/sc with 33,XXX miles. mine would go from 3000 rmp and shoot up really high but i wouldn't be going anywhere. for me i have to let my car warm up a bit. after its warm my clutch will catch well. no slipping. idk if that helps. maybe give it a try and see. its free i get the "coolant" temp up to 145 or somewhere in there. idk if u have a heat gauge for any other parts on ur car so the coolant reading under the speedo should be a good place to look. give it a try and tell me how it works.

idk why the car is bogging. when i raced motocross it used to be because of air flow restrictions. other than that. i have no idea. tell me how it all works out.

yea it's clutch slipping. tbh you shouldn't really be flooring it at that low of rpms in 3rd though. i wouldn't get it to the floor until i'd say at least 4k in 3rd maybe even 4500. see what it does if you do this in 2nd. flooring the car in a higher gear at low rpms will wear on the clutch. and yes, clutch is a wear item so it won't fall under warranty unless your dealership are nice people then occasionally they'll swap it out for you, but thats highly unlikely. I mean afterall this is GM... Just drive it normal and give her more rpms before flooring and it'll last you a while longer i'm sure.

Just a little advice and as N1ckateen said don't beat on it in such low rpm range...just drive it non-aggressive or you will either be losing warranties if you take it to GM and they claim abuse(9/10 they will trust me I have very recent experience with this lol)or your just going to cost yourself sooo much money in repairs.

As stated it is advice I'm giving so don't take it the wrong way =D

GM replaced mine it was a pain but i got them to do it. magnuson moss act is something you can bring up. they have to prove that you did something to make the clutch fail. (which isnt hard once they look at it) lol

edit: or offer to buy a clutch (obviously upgraded) for free install. worth a shot

Read through the stickie on the clutch. I don't recall where it is but it talks about the glazing effect etc.. See if that helps. There are other ways to test if a clutch is slipping besides flooring it. I can't remember specifically so maybe someone else will chime in on it.
