Red face Cobalt in the 12's !?!?

I just got a very large sum of money back from taxes and my prorated warranty off my old camaro. Needless to say i want to have the first cobalt in the 12's. It is still completely stock, running a best time of 14.48. In your opinions, will this set up make me see 12's?( i am very good at driving the car....finally lol)
control arm bushings
new motor mount
new tranny mount
gm stage II kit
be goodrich 235/40/17 dr's and light weight 17" wheels
cold air intake( not sure once one to go with yet)
corsa exhaust
header

is it possible i see 12.9 with this setup? If not list what you think would need to be added.....look out cobras haha

Add a stage 2 or 3 clutch in there and some extra HP its possible. Just stage 2...no. You'll probally need about 300whp for 12's.

nope, you are still missing tuning which is important to get the most power out of the car

while I appreciate your enthusiasm, dont be too ambitious. at least not when it comes to the 03/04s

good luck getting into the 12s, that would definitely be awesome to be the first.

16' DR's instead of 17" and NOS that might help.

I dont even think you could hit 13.5s with that setup you posted. Although we don't know what the GM stage 2 will actually dyno at so who knows. Going from a 14.48 to a 12.9 with only and extra 40-50HP is straight up day dreaming. Good luck anyway.

this is what i figure is needed for 12's based off what i am running at the track now
16's with DR's
Stage 2 clutch
Tranny and engine mounts
Stage II
full exhaust

Probably not... You may want to invest in some cheap N20... a small kit will help right at the end... Just don't get greedy... I have fogger kit parts left over from one of my mustangs that I am toying with the Idea... I think I am going to wait for the warrnety to expire first though

ya id say no, id say ud hit low 13s at best but not 12s, u need to get all that u listed, coilovers would help alot with stabilty in launch, get an safc II unit and a wideband, get it tuned and if u can, get cams and youll deff have a 12 sec 1/4 on your hands...you have my seal of approval on that.

Theres a VERY good chance a SS will go 12's tomorrow . FAST06SS will be racing his .

-Intense stg. 3 kit ( with 2.6 pulley ? )
-corsa catback , no cat
-Spec clutch
-Hoosier qwik time pro's = DOT slick , not a drag radial

If you can hook the car and get a nice clean problem free pass you wouldnt be too far off your goal . Theres no true proven gains from GM's stg 2 kit yet , so its a little early to guestimate its results .

Sweet Good luck Rob
Hopefully we will see if the spec stage 2+ holds up too. The power is there, just need a good 60foot and a clutch that can hold it.

I've seen SRT-4's hit 12's with ~300whp. So get some slick and some weight reduction, and near 300whp, and you could hit 12's. Your setup will probably only net ~270 hp, give or take, but most likely not 300whp. A small shot of nitrous, or a ported blower may be what you need to get you there.

If I were you, I'd go for whatever it takes.
I believe the record for a Cobalt SS is 6.68 @ 207 in the 1/4 mile.
Give a call to Kurt Johnson.......
BTW....it's Arrival blue....
And it doesn't run on pump gas...

I was gonna say that too. I hope he does, and he gives us a good idea of what we need.
