Cobalt ss beating a LS (turbo'd) unlikely? Finally proven
wow this went to crap really quick
a turbo 2.2 , has alot of potentual , example - http://www.j-body.org/forums/read.ph...=87004&t=87004
stage 2 turbo + 14 psi = 12's
and i do know people that bought the lower trim level cobalts for close to 10k , so for the same price you paid they can go faster , and youd still have to put more money into the ss/sc to go faster
either 1 with a few mods , and a blown motor 95% of the time , youll end up having to pay for the damage your self
so in the long run both are screwed , if your so worried about warrenty , then don mod the car , dont race it , hell in some cases might as well not even drive it
but what fun is that ??? abosolutely freakin NONE
this is susposed to be a fun sport , people sharing the same basic interests

The LS brake pedal is quite spongy and slowing down with those drums is a bit of a nightmare. That, and the fact that its goverened at 130...... In fact my Mazda 3 GT would pull the LS no probs. We figuired this out on the test drive
Now the SC handed the 3 its ass, it wasnt even a contest. No surprise though, the 3 is NA.
I am not saying this because I have an SC.
Any 8psi'd turbo'd LS around Ottawa? I would love to put an end to this myth. Both cars are completely different from a driving feel and performance point of view. Hell, the LS is a great car, but its not built for performance like the SC. If you are planning on buying an LS for modding, just save yourself the trouble and buy an SC model, if you can. If not, drive what you wanna drive. And if any turbod LS's want to have some fun you know where I am. I will have a camera to put this to sleep. As mentioned above, they are both great cars. LS owners, you can always try to pull us, but it's going to take thousands and thousands of dollars just so your LS can beat a bone stock SC? Even if you win your still losing at the bank. Just get an SS/SC. I am not even going to touch on the fact you may get all the way to the point where you can slightly pull an SC just to have the SC owner bolt up a stage two for under a grand and feed you your lunch like no tomorrow. At that point if your going to try to one up the stage two , bring a 5 gallon pail along for your tranny... LOL Just having some fun here.
Now I am done with this arg until I see a video of an LS pulling an SC with the SC driver driving the car properly and not shifting at 2000...

If this is really a true story then props to the 2.2, if not then shame on you for being a little lying bitch.
Shouldnt this be in the 2.2 performance section though? It does seem that he's posting this here to stir up trouble.

What HP does a 2.2 have stock? 140? What kind of turbo you running? I believe him 100% honestly, I think it probably will be faster. I love when people do things out of the ordinary like this. You get a thumbs up from me
No ones doubting the possibility, just the reality.
Its all fun until a) you hit 130, b) hit some twisties, c) try to stop, d) All the above

Me too. I like it when people mod out sleepers. The problem is that you hardly ever see it done properly.

Complete BS!!!!!
And 1 PSI does not equal 10 hp on these cars at least. If you have a large displacment then maybe 1 PSI will equal 10 hp.
Think about it do you think the 2.0 without the 12 PSI would only produce 85 hp??

I would like to see how that turbo 2.2 is still running after 5000 miles. I used to be a member of the Jbody.org and was going to turbo my 98 Cav Z-24, 2.4. Well my deciding factor was about %50 of the cav turbo conversions (2.4 twin cam and 2.2 eco) end up blown up with either burned piston or kicking a rod.
The 2.0 SC motor in our cobalts are designed from the ground up for boost. I could prab drive it like i stole it for thousands of miles and it wont miss a beat (all forged internals, factory programmed fuel and ignition maps).
I would love to see a 2.0 with a turbo and see what it would do.

^^agreed. I do give props to the "underdogs" because i used to be one. i owned a v6 mustang that I supercharged to beat GT's. I got made fun of, told how I waste dmy money and shoulda just bought a v8. the problem i have with this guy is his attitude. He's saying that Ss owners "wasted their money", and how he exaggerated his win by "blowing him away all the way to the speed limiter". This guy is an ******* and deserves to be boo'd and hissed at.
God....I guess w/e bug bit the srt owners in 03 has got the SS s/c owners too.....ranting like their cars are the fastest things on the road *cough* superchargedss and phxss *cough*.,,
The rice is strong in this thread as well....(well if we add <insert $ or mods here> to the ss it'll be faster again..) <<Wouldn't it be funner to do it and have a faster car ...rather than than talking about it.?
Weather he's lying or not I don't care,,,some of you act like the situation is unbelievable....hell I've still gotta vid of BoostedEco(02 cav) running away from a prelude (I/H/E/ign 183whp) (when he had a T3/T4@7 Psi 3in dp and exhaust (putting down 217whp and 231 ft/lbs). His best 1/4 time at the moment was a 14.1 and i think he said the prelude was a 14.4ish

Well wow I am amazed at all the crap that has been posted on here in such a short amount of time. First and foremost I would love to take pics and make all kinds of cool videos for everyone to watch me smoke an ss. But I don't have time or a digital camera, and I am sure as hell not going to go and buy one to prove what I have said. I am in university right now and I barely have time to shave! Also the turbo I got was off my friends cavy who figured it wouldn't increase the value of his car that much when he sold it, so he gave it to me and I got it installed in my car. As as far as this argument goes about the ss vs. and Ls turbocharged, I think its all retarded.. personally if I had the money I would have bought neither and got the 2.4! The ss is an all around better car...it has a better trans, internals, suspension, interior, and exterior. However when it comes down to serious HP I don't care what cobalt you have, the internals need upgrading. To all SS owners, your correct you do have the potential to handle more boast but only to a certain point. But anything over 300 Hp both 2.2 and 2.0's are pretty much in the same boat, our engines will both need the same upgrades. I appoligize for pissing off soo many ss owners but that was not the point of this post. You can either believe me or not its your choice, but when I pull up to your ass at a stoplight I will beat you unless you have upgrades. And the turbo was 3000 installed with all the components I needed, but that was a used turbo.
