I do not recall any ss/sc's with the factory remote start. I actually don't think any manual transmission cobalt ever came with the remote start. I would be willing to bet that the remote could be programmed to do everything for your car except for the remote start portion. I don't think the ss/sc is set up to even receive a command start signal.

Sorry to crush your dreams on this one. Would be nice if it worked, but I doubt it.

Normally, there is a "brain" that has to have the remote start programmed into it...

i doubt that would come stock, on a manual tranny... Google will know...

But i would just get the regular key made up..

yeah thats because they have 2.4 cobalt SS automatics that came with remote start, not all SS's were manuals

And like they said, our cars would have to have it programmed into it to be able to receive that command, I would be willing to bet you money that your car won't remote start if they make that key fob, if it did someone was really bored on the assembly line one day

It would be a lot more work than it would be worth on the manual...and prolly have to be aftermarket. You would have to run a type of clutch override switch, and leave the car in neutral. I've seen remote start on manuals before, but never a cobalt.

then your car goes for a ghost ride haha... thats why people with starts on their manuals always leave it in neutral with just the parking brake

Yeah, and it's illegal to have remote start with in a manual. At least in my State.

it's not a factory option, and if want to trust just the parking brake on the cobalt to hold your car in place, that's a bad idea.

Not after the horror post I've seen where guys left the parking brake on and came back to their cobalt at the bottom of a deep ditch. 3rd or 4th gear is where mine stays when parked.

Remote start is also illegal in Cali for manual transmission only.

lol a buddy of mine had an Eclipse that was a stick with a manual and he installed a aftermarket remote start, and I know this is stupid and I wouldn't recommend anyone doing this but we put it out in the middle of a mall parking lot one evening. As far away as can be from most cars and light poles and well we put his car in gear. Did the remote start tied the steering wheel, and while sitting in my car we'd let it start going for a couple feet then kill it, and lol you should have seen some of the people that were looking like WTF?

here's a funny absolutely TRUE story for ya....

I had a buddy at my last job that had a "custom" remote start installed on his mustang GT and used to brag about how he got his remote start hooked up on a manual car under the table at the local auto custom shop because "he had the hookup." Long story short, I hear from a co-worker that a car just drove through the parking lot, smashed into another car, and was in the ditch making weird noises just before we were about to get out of work. I walk outside, and it turns out my ******* buddy left it in gear, hit the start button to warm up his car before leaving work, and the car kept trying to start itself, driving across the parking lot, smashing into a nice mazda speed 6, then crashing into the ditch that runs along our building. Oh my god that was the funniest **** ever and the talk of the company for MONTHS. LOL LOL.

it is in many states and for that reason...most places will not install them...plus I like going to the track....and bypassing is a no no for that.
