Cobalt SS Street Performance, Among other things?

Im seriously considering buying a cobalt ss.....but theres a couple things i wanna know before i buy it....
1) What is the better buy...The supercharged cobalt or a the 2.4 liter cobalt but turboed?

2) Ive been reading alot about the modifications of the 2.0 litre supercharged cobalt. and they turn impressive track times for what they are. My friend has a srt-4 with a bit of work, ( mopar turbo stage 1, exhaust, intake, a few minor other things). Ive been with him and we've beatin gt mustangs, the 350 hp gto....all on the roll... but i was wondering that wiht all the mods that u guys are doing to your ss/sc's....are you having the same sucess in races and get the same performance? i dont wanna buy a srt-4 cuz they arent making them anymore and i dont wnat a used car, and i like the looks better of the cobalt...but i dont wanna be behind the pack in power because there are ALOT of the srt-4's around where i live.

3) does the g85 package with limited slip make that much of a difference? and yes i will be wanting to race it alot.
Thanks alot in advance!

Cobalt SS/SC is better IMO. because its a true SS.

2.0 is a better starting point than the 2.4

Current mods for the 2.0 will keep up with mild SRT's alright, but serious stage 2, 3, and aftermarket turbo SRT's will eat all current Cobalts alive. The twincharged Cobalts should be pretty fast though.

As for an LSD, you'll thank yourself later for getting one. We had one installed in ours, and its a night and day difference in all kinds of acceleration.

1) That is an opinion, but I would say SS Supercharged. Factory backed warranty.

2) I haven't done any modding, so I am not going to tackle that one.

3) You need the G85 for track use if you do it often. I haven't driven one without, but my car is glued to the road for a high HP FWD car. It really should be standard in my opinion.

Personally I bought the car cause it was already factory supercharged which means instead of me spending 4k on a turbo I can just buy a pully and a couple other parts for serious hp/tq gains for under $1000.

Don't plan on putting a turbo in a 2.4. It hasn't happened yet that I know of, and I don't know that it will, just from a tuning perspective. Plus the car wouldn't be nearly as reliable as the SS/SC.

I agree that this car won't keep up with the modded SRT-4's very well. One cobalt just went 12's for the first time, with quite a few bolt on's. 11's like many SRT's are pulling now will require heavy modification.

1) the 2.0l SS/SC has better internals aswell.... ppl have the misconception that a 2.4l with an aftermarket turbo will blow the ss/sc out of the water. it just isnt realistic. plus... if u are into styling at all, you have to admit the ss/sc looks much, much meaner.

2) a heavily modded srt4 will beat a cobalt ss/sc... BUT consider that there are still many aftermarket tuning products not realeased to the market. the cobalt is a relatively new model. with the GM Stage Kit reflashes out, there will most likely be some great strides in tuning options.

also consider what GM Performance Division did with the Time Attack Cobalt..... posted up the fastest times of the year. (look into it if you are not familiar)

3) i dont have the g85 package and wish that i did every day. i drive the car hard and i definitely notice that i do not have one. GET IT!!! :P
