Cooling

Ok well i finally have proof to my self that i need a cooling mod after racing my friends SRT4 "intercooler/piping, wastegate, BOV, header back system, injectors, retune and others" we made three consecutive pulls. First from 40 to 130mph i got him by about 3 cars, second from 30 to 130 i had only about a cars length on him then after sitting at a light right after our second pull we made another 40 roll and he got me by about a cars length at only 100mph.

This is obviously heat soak in the motor so what are peoples opinions on the best cooling mod or combo? im looking to spend around $300. Which system is best known to recover heat soak the fastest? I will soon after this be installing a set of comp cams, 60's w/2.7pully and a clutch. So that brings me to my next question. What is a popular clutch people are using for this power range and what all is in the install of a clutch? im pretty mechanically inclined just asking about how long it should take?

I would say something along these lines would help you out:

With a little bit of:

Perhaps some option B action too

As long as you're smart about it and not completely retarded like half of the people are then you will be fine.
Good luck with the cooling

2nd H/E w dual pass & option B reservoir is the best way to go 1st...once it's done no other mantinence is needed, then go with a meth setup!

imho street racing is ok as long as its done in a semi-not retarded manner, retarded time=race down 279 coming outta pittsburgh during 5pm rush hour traffic, people doing it in downright stupid situations give the whole idea a bad name

you need water/meth injection when using a 2.7" pulley. Also get a front mount heat exchanger.

ok thanks guys for the opinions and info and yea these runs were in a safe environment... even though we were on the road we were catious. There is a time and a place for it and people should know that. I hate those idiots that want to do 120 in come home traffic swerving in and out of people, theyr the reason street racing gets a bad name and usually the ones that are broke down or smashed a few miles up the road. I have a question about the meth set ups. When you install a meth system do you always have to have a retune? or is there a safe low amout you can run without a retune? I will be getting a tune soon when my cams other goodies make it in. but just wondering.

You can run the meth without a tune for just cooling but it'll richen your car up quite a bit and you'll lose power from running rich.. I would tune for it, but if you don't want an aggressive tune you can just play with your air fuel and lean it out and NOT add timing if you don't want to be dependant on the meth..

If I were you.. I'd get a tune, slam 24 degrees of timing (or whatever you can get without KR) on a 50/50 or 70/30 mixture and have a ball
