Custom Intake

Okay, I have done a lot of reading and a lot of thinking. I think I am going to make my own intake setup. I just have one question...

I looked into spectre as a way to help me accomplish this. Even though I work for a parts house and would never recomend spectre to anyone. I found two part numbers from them that would allow me to reuse the MASS air flow sensor.

My only question is which one should I use?

9705

9405

Be prepared to scale... especially if you house the MAF in a 4" tube.

More like 2.5" piping. The rectangular style of 9705 is what you want though.

I've seen some injen clones on ebay sell for 50-60 bucks . People here have used them and they work ok from what ive read . I think some have cut the end piece off where it narrows down to help with cel's .

I 'd go with the 3" I think you would have trouble getting a 4" pipe through there.

9405 .. it comes with maf plate adaptors... along with a gm one and it comes with a 3" tube that you can size down for flow rates so you wont throw cods... in all honesty ive been looking at getting the 9405 when my friend gives me his intake from his 04 ion with no maf.. use that for the maf then get some piping and BAM intake for like 40 bux

9705 looks right to me, i have the ebay intake, its cheap and its more worth it do just do an airbox mod. If you want an intake, if you're good at custom fabrication and welding, it would probably be more worth it. Otherwise, i'm waiting til i wear my intake enough to get a rebelworx 3" stainless. Definitely worth the price if there is no rubbing, cause i have tons of it.

ummm ... how come people keep saying 9705 adn not the 9405? are you even looking at the 9405? the 9405 comes with 3" piping as well as reducers for 2.25,2.5, and 2.75 internal diameter as well as a gm maf sensor adapter ..

you wont be throwing codes with 9405 where as you will with 9705 because of turbulence due to different size internal piping diameter
