Custom intake scoop

I put this in the 2.0 section since I'm not sure all other models have our placement. Has anyone else considered adding a scoop to thier driver side fender directly to the intake? I was considering cutting and molding a nice wind collector funnel. I would of course put in a filter at the opening to keep out dirt and water.

I haven't seen any thoughts of this and also wondered if it was a good idea. It seems to me like it should have a good effect.

I figured even to match both sides you could use the other side for something like an oil cooler.

you could probably, easily make one out of the fog light on the drivers side, however i think our intake is pretty efficient, i wouldnt wanna rip out the fog lamp, i used to work at dodge and ive seen a lot of people take the fog lamp out for an intake tube on the passenger side of the old 5.9 dakotas, i beleive there was a kit you could buy to do it

Yeah, I didn't want to take out the light though. I just wanted to scoop the air from the side. It is efficient, I can hear the thing sucking in air as is. That is what I wondered. If it would even help it at all to get more direct flow. I have an injen now btw. I'm not doing this for the stock intake. I was going to direct my tunnel straight to the injen tube.

I thought about this but you also have to take into account that it will give you some benefit but then again it will cause a significant amount of drag unless you build it into the fender with out a scoop type setup. I hope you understand what i mean because im not sure how to explain it any better.

Yeah, that is the plan. I will design it for flow so all the air goes in with no drag on the outside or surface. I'm not 100% sure though what you picture that would cause drag. Like something sticking out? what I mean is the air should all direct into the intake rather than run into anything if funneled well. All the rest should go normally with the lines of the car.

dont do it, it looks tacky, there is a VW down the street that has it, and everyone laughs at him lol it gives you MAYBE 1 more hp ontop of the intake lol. its not worth it. cause it sticks out, and creates drag.
